Guests of a Larger Size

Pete, my question was not necessarily all the coasters but all the seats on GK. Just curious why only row 4 and not all the seats on the trains. It seems there are no difference in the seats, just a longer belt. Anyone can ride in row 4 so it doesn't appear to be a safety issue.

Yeah, that is odd that the seats are the same with just longer belts. I'm also curious why they don't just put the longer belts on all the seats.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

this is a problem for the american peaple, every american is fat, so who can ride gatekeeper if the fifty percent of the american is to fat for ride it

Busch Gardens in Tampa has a row like this on most of its rides. Being a bigger guy i enjoy that and I dont mind saying I have to sit in the big people seats. The only ride I have not fit in recently is Wicked Twister so hopefully Gatekeeper wont be a problem for me, I have dropped around 20lbs though from last time I was at CP.

GO IRISH!!

Back when I worked at the Point, in the late 70's we called them "Grand Riders"....as in "Grand Rider approaching, place another Grand Rider in Mine Car three so the lapbar will close"...

^^^Erma, it's not about being fat. My uncle isn't fat yet he can't ride Raptor or Wicked Twister. He's just very tall with a long torso. Your statement is ignorant and unjustified. I never saw one person turned away during my visit, so 50% is number pulled out of your %#@ with nothing to back it up. Just breathe and realize everyone isn't built the same. And its not just fat and skinny.

This is what it says on the cedar point website:
Due to rider restraint system requirements, guests of larger size may not be accommodated on some of our rides. This may apply, but not be limited to, men who exceed 6’2”, or those who exceed 225 pounds, have a 40” waistline or 52” chest or females who exceed 200 pounds or wear size 18 or larger. Each person has different body proportions so it is not possible to list exact size and weight.

Its more like 35% of adults are obese or "fat". It isn't all American people, but it isn't a small amount either.

I'm sure it has to do with manufacturer recommendations. Or, was it nonexistent state laws. Or, was it nonsense about secondary safety systems and it's just the customers fault because all they want to do is eat Big Macs. Oh bother... Ok, Ok, it's not park managements fault, they are perfect and always right about everything. The park would go bankrupt if they had to pay for 2 more inches of fabric. It's really simple. That is the way the park wants it. If we don't like it we all should just jump off a bridge.

You're still trying the sarcasm, eh?

A small update: the ops seem to have a rhythm going to get bigger people situated faster. Managed to finally get a ride on a row other than 4 (row 2!) last Thursday.

Also, I discovered if I wore thin basketball shorts instead of my typical shorts (usually bulky cargo shorts), I fit MF and TTD with plenty of room. Go figure. Not sure why I never tried "thinner clothes" before, but there you go. I recommend thin clothes for you bigger people out there, it helped me tremendously.

Petulant much?

Is anyone willing to share their waist sizes for those who cant get on TTD or MF? Im hoping my friend who is 5' 10, 270 but has only a 40 inch waist will be able to get on.

5' 10" and 250lbs with a 42" waist.

Could not get belt on in the Millennium Force test seat, but had this issue before.
So waited in line anyways and sure enough fit on train and belt wasn't even a struggle to get clicked on.

Had even more room on Gatekeeper.

Only ride that was an issue was Mantis, needed ride op help clicking belt.
(Could have been because of so much clothes on last Friday, damn cold and breezy in the morning)

Sorry, TTD was down too much so can't say.

I saw plenty of people get on GK who wouldn't come within several inches of fastening the belt on MF or TTD. It's a much more forgiving restraint and hopefully the test seat is more accurate as well.
