Guest of Exceptional Size at GL

I am considering taking my father in law to Geauga Lake next week. He is pushing 400 pounds. Now, I know he can't ride most or all of the coasters - but he wouldn't if he could. What can he ride? I was thinking the Lazy rivers, Robots of Mars, and the wave pool would be sure things. What about Liquid Lightning, the bumper cars, the other tube slides, Dino Island, El Dorado, Americana, the log flume, Shipwreck Falls and anything else you can think of.

I called the park and they really were no help at all. They just quoted the website to me about 6'2" and 250 lbs.

Thanks in advance - Dave

This is a good question, but unfortunately, I don't think I can be of much help. Robots of Mars should be no problem, as you said, since it is basically just a movie with special effects. He might have trouble with Dino Island II though, as that has seatbelts. With the other rides, you might just have to go and see, as different people may have different results.

Being TL of the area that includes El Dorado, I have seen some rather large guests fit on the ride, though one guest (a former co-worker), who isn't too large, told me he couldn't fit.

Shipwreck might be ok, though it could be a tight fit. I have only run it once this year, so I haven't had the chance to see how larger guests do with that ride.

With many of the others, I am afraid that you are on your own. I am sorry that I can't help you more, but I don't have a lot of GOES experience as a GL employee. My best suggestion is to go anyway, as you both should have fun even if he can't fit into many rides. There are a lot of attractions at the park, and there should be enough to do to make the $25 you spend on admission go a pretty long way!

John McCain: The Ride

Being Mavericky since 2007!

He shouldn't have any problem with Liquid Lightining because there is a weight limit of 700 pounds per raft. But he will probably have a problem with Thuder Falls because the weightlimit is 300 pounds per raft. Hope this helps.

That is something I was hoping to hear. So he could go with one other person and not be over the limit. Cool.

I don't know this for sure but do you need four people to ride on Liquid Lighting?

I have ridden 2 different tornados so far and they both have different policies. At PKI 4 adults can go no problem. At HW only 2 adults can go. I have ridden with just my wife on both of them.

No you dont have to have 4 people for liquid lightning. They usually try to get 4 people on each raft, but if they cant then thats ok.

Not going to do a full trip report but yesterday my wife and her parents went to Geauga Lake. The big guy was able to squeeze himself into more than I thought he would. He fit on everything he tried (like I said he wouldn't do coasters if he could). He was able to do Pepsi Plunge, Robots of Mars, Grizzly Run, Liquid Lightning, Splash Landing, Calypso Creek, wave pool, Hay Baler, and most importantly a few laps on the Dodgems - he loved those.

I am sure he could have done more flats but these are all he tried. We spent a couple hours waiting out the rain instead. On another note, I was happy to scare the mother in law to death on X-flight and Dominator. She seems to be proud that she did them though.

I weigh 295 lbs. This is my first time to Geauga Lake coming up here in a couple weeks.

I am a little nervous about what I am going to fit in and what I won't fit in. Should I not even try the rollercoasters or are there any there that I might fit into?

What about flat rides? Which ones might I have problems with?
