GTTP's Status

I would first like to say that I used to be an all out member of GTTP. I would post, join in in conversation, and spread the love for Cedar Point. However, over the past year I have noticed a change in the place I used to love. GTTP is no longer the place where people can just talk and share opinion on the park that they love. It has now turned into a forum of, if you love it, we love you, if you have an opinion that is not showing love for Cedar Point or they could change, get out. The way people are treated around here for showing there opinions is disgusting. I belive I have more maturity here than some people 10 years older than me. Is it not true that the park enjoys hearing the good and bad so they know what to change, how to market the park, ect. Should it not be the same for this site? Public opinion is the basis of all companies such as an amusment park, or a website. Now I know I will be called a "troll" or something to that extent, that is just what moderators do, when they have nothing else to back themselves up. It seems this site has turned into a power trip for those in charge instead of the once great place where new voices were welcome, instead of pounced on. That's my opinion, not that it means anything to the moderators here. Tear me apart all you please if that is what makes you feel like you've won. But then after that, I suggest you think about it, and change it.

For all this talk about moderators being on "power trips" going about 'pouncing' on people, I just don't see it. There's this giant myth out there that the moderators are dictators, and are deleting posts / banning people who make even a peep against Cedar Point.

Problem is, I've never seen this happen. I'm not a long-time member, and I certainly have never even met the moderators on this site, but I just don't see this whole "power trip." It's all a myth. It's like people who claim that the 'media' is somehow 'liberal'--it's a convenient myth that, when investigated, is inherently meaningless.

Here's what I do see going on at this site: An implied understanding that any and all debate be backed up by reason, rationality and respect to one another. Everything else is just a bothersome waste of space. The result is plenty of complaints / critiques of the park, but they're backed up with reasons and are presented in a coherent, rational manner that includes no more than three exclamation marks per post.

At least, that's just how I see things.

ETA that, while I write this, on the first page of the "General Forum" there are topics discussing rip-offs at the park, ways to make the park better and someone's rants against the park.

Must be that conspiracy at work again.

I don't get it. If you think the moderators are such "power trippers", why not just leave and let it go? There are other Cedar Point fan forums out there?

The fact is FireDragon I have, I havn't made a post in almost a year since this one. However I noticed it and I thought I should say something because this used to be the best, and I wish it would go back to that. I guess that's to much to ask.

But how do you exlplain the fact that criticism exists all over the board? I don't get what you're complaining about. Not everything goes here, but what doesn't seems to be rejected because of the manner in which it is presented, not the content of the message.

And it's "too much, not "to much." I only make mention of it because I'm petty.

I agree with both sides of this argument. I am sick of the complaining but criticism is good as long as the person(s) have a good reason. But I am sick of the people who, for example, don't know why TTD is down or what the problem is so they just yell" TTD sucks, etc." If you have a legitimate reason to complain and critisize, then I am ok with that. I used to love this place when I joined in April but now the site is becoming a big argument between mods and trolls or whatever. Topics are being closed b/c a mod thinks it is irrelavant when that same mod is going Way off topic in some other post and yet, the other post stays open whereas the post that was doing no harm gets closed. I am quickly losing interest in this site.
