Who are we to judge? I’m not saying that I would myself; but if someone wants to get tattoos, or piercings, or have two different hair colors, why should we judge them? You don’t even know them, and they could be the nicest person in the world. Now are there possibly a couple exceptions on a case-by-case basis? Yes, but it depends on how you look at it. NOT being judgemental, but a couple of tattoos here and there; that’s fine, but neck and face tattoos, are kind of trashy. One or two piercings, again, that’s ok too. Say someone has naturally brown hair, but he/she wants to put pink in it too? As long as they show up for work, are on time, and use good judgement and do their job... who the heck cares? Remember, treat others how you want to be treated.

I'm surprised there are any companies left with no-beard policies. Domino's no-beard policy was ruled a violation of the Civil Rights Act over 25 years ago.
Unless you or any person is preparing your food wearing a full coverall style body suit, like a HAZMAT suit you're eating thousands if not millions of human skin and hair cells. The visible hair is not the only thing that sheds off the human body from general movement. Yes preparing food with gloves and hairnets will provide a more sanitary environment to prepare food but it does not stop everything.
Heck, I work in pharma. We spend millions of dollars of year trying to prevent human skin cells and hair from contaminating clean room work areas and it still happens. And that's under two layers of clean room sterile coveralls.
I never minded the grooming standards, and I believe if a company wants to have a certain "image" it has a right to. But I'm glad to see standards changing as the world progresses.

Disney still calls its employees "Cast Members" and although CP employees are commonly known as "Associates" now, there was a time when they were also called "Cast Members". I remember seeing a sign at Breakers before the renovation the said "Casting Office", it wasn't for shows. You can get around stuff like the civil rights ruling by employing cast members that are cast to a certain part. That obviously includes how a person looks. Just like when casting a show, if a person isn't right for the part based on criteria required for that part, they are not hired.

Ewwwww,... GROSS!
I work in food service for a couple of weeks every summer. We impress upon our employees that gloves are used mainly to prevent cross contamination and must be changed if the task changes. That includes picking anything up from anywhere. Hair nets and beard nets are common anywhere food is processed or prepared, but we don’t require them. On the girls (or the guys) if hair is long it has to be up and out of their face. We provide hats and bands. And our county health department is good with all that.
I’d expect with these new standards to see a lot of nets on those with longer hair.
I’m pretty sure no one ever caught anything from somebody else’s tattoo as long as it’s properly healed.

Why wouldn't anyone eat shredded cheese out of the bag? Especially that finely shredded and seasoned taco mix stuff...
