Grilling at the Point?

I have a question that you guys might be able to answer... I know that there are grills up at the picnic area and the main entrance, but I am in the habit of parking at soak city. I have one of those dumb cheap disposable grills, do you know if they allow you to set that either infront of or behind the car and grill, as long as you put it out, and dispose of it?

If they don't allow this, is there a way without walking through the park, or around perimeter road to walk to the picnic area, so that we could carry our food and such.

I may end up just driving up to the front of the park, then coming back when were done. I want to do this on the 4th, and am well aware of the lack of parking on the 4th of July at Cedar Point...

Thanks for any help.

Look here (under the picnic section), where it seems as though you can only do grilling at the picnic shelters.

I certainly would NOT think its a remotely good idea to grill in the parking lot.

Well it doesn't explicitly state that you cannot grill there (im smart enough to keep it away from gas tanks...;)), however,

(Shuttle service is available to Cedar Point's picnic area.)

Pretty well answers my question.

I had glanced through that once or twice, but didn't actually read that specific part.

Thanks. If anyone else wants to add to this feel free to.

Not sure exactly what type of grill you have, but I don't know that they'd let you take it on the shuttle, especially if its a gas grill.

Brandon

Its a wrapped tin foil box with charcol, its 5.99 and you throw it out when your done.

Well, so long as its self-contained, you'd probably be fine on the shuttle. But yeah, definitely not a good idea to ever grill in the parking lot, especially on the 4th.

^ It would add more fireworks to the 4th.

I know Soak City has it's own picnic shelter. I've never checked it out, but maybe that shelter has grills like the one in front.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I believe that shelter went away a few years ago to make way for Splash Zone.

Soak City No longer has a picnic shelter. We did play it safe and take the shuttle to pet check, and walked over to the picnic shelter up front.

The disposable grill worked out great if anyone was wondering. Its good because you don't have to lug around charcoal and lighter fluid. It was all self contained, light a napkin on fire toss it in the grill and it was flaming. At the end we dumped cooler ice water on it and tossed in the hot coals bin. Quick, easy, and good cheap eating. We got the grill at Giant Eagle for 5.99.

I was up at the point on Friday and in the main parking lot there was a family grilling! That is one thing about going to the parks now verses when I was younger, half the fun of the park was the grilling and eating as fast as you can in the picnic areas throughout the parks!
