I think what I remember most from when I was a kid at Cedar Point (granted it was the 90s and I remember the mid-latter half of them relatively well) was the nighttime atmosphere.

I remember everything being lit up and just the general excitement when the sun went down. When I was a teenager and up until recently, that sort of atmosphere disappeared as Giant Wheel's lights started going out and things just seemed to be in disrepair.

Now that we have WindSeeker, a new LED lighting package on Giant Wheel and as recently as the new Gemini Midway, I sense this atmosphere coming back. And that doesn't even include things like Luminosity and Starlight Spectacular. These things make up for a lot of ills in my opinion.

In fact, I would be completely ok with not getting a roller coaster for 4-5 years just so we can use the cap ex money on general improvements and updates. Landscaping, lighting packages and renovations are what I'm starting to get excited about because it means that people higher up care more about the park than they do about the latest greatest technology.

I really miss the trees, trees add so much to atmosphere.

I was a teenager/young adult who still loved riding Pirate Ride and it never got old for me and missed Earthquake and the funhouse. It was a nice change from roller coasters and heat. My boys are interested in old Cedar Point, too, when we've talked to them about the old stuff. So to each their own, I like Disney, too, even when I was a teen/young adult.

I really miss the indoor rides. CP will always seem incomplete without them. Hopefully we will see some changes soon.

I'll never understand the people who miss the trees. I don't see how there are any fewer trees than there used to be, save for perhaps the infield of Maverick.

It's amazing how much the park has changed from even then. Promoting Witch's Wheel as a cornerstone ride?? Seems silly now-a-days.

I couldn't help but notice in the video- THE Magnum, THE Gemini, THE Mean Streak, THE Demon Drop...and so on...;-)

I love seeing old videos of the park, especially from the 50's and 60's. In watching those videos, though nostalgic, I think they really drive the point home how much the park has evolved to keep up with the times. For all those who pine for the old Cedar Point, I think the videos make it clear that the park of yesterday would not be nearly as successful if it were transported to the present compared to how the park really is today. To stay relevant and exciting evolution must occur, that is why CP is the second oldest operating park. Over the decades they have always managed to reinvent themselves to be fresh and exciting to a new generation of park goers.

Don't see that many videos that show the Super Jets and Twister (to the right of where Starbucks is today) by the front Sky Ride station. Also the Jungle Larry island footage and old Super Coaster footage (from Kiddyland) in front of the Upside Down Funhouse is great. Enjoy!!

The early 70s park, with rides like Sky Slide and the Double Ferris Wheel, with the only way to walk to Frontiertown was via Frontier Trail, would probably strike today's visitors as quaint.
