Great article from NHRA!

That's right, even NHRA has gotten in on the TTD hype. Check out the article here: http://www.nhra.com/2003/news/January/010902.html

For those of you that don't know, NHRA is the National Hot Rod Association and runs the highest top fuel dragster, funny car, and pro stock series in the country. This is where the likes of Don Garlits, Kenny Bernstein, John Force, and many more greats have raced.

"Top Thrill Dragster will be the first and only roller coaster in the world to break the towering 400-foot-tall milestone."

So, Superman the Escape isn't a roller coaster now?? That's interesting to think about. Another way to prove Cedar Point is better than Six Flags.

If Superman the escape is a roller coaster than so is power tower....
Superman: SHUTTLE coaster (not full curcuit, freefall ride)

TTD: roller coaster

Lets leave it at that.

"Scream early because once you reach 420 feet, no one will hear you!"-TOP THRILL DRAGSTER

i think thats one of the biggest debates going on in the coaster world..."is superman considered a roller coaster?" My cousin told me that he looks at a roller coaster as having track of both sides of the station. I dont know if i agree. What do you think makes a roller coaster a roller coaster?
Superman's track does top 400 feet, but the cars don't even get close to the top.

Where are you inferring this from?

not that i am being picky (okay i am), but they forgot to mention that Gemini was also the first coaster over 100 feet..
I think you all know i was going to respond after hearing about MM.

For all you nimrods out there, nobody ever claimed that S:TE was the tallest and fastest roller coaster on the planet. Even in the park map, it says "The Tallest and Fastest Thrill Ride On The Planet." Yes, its sneaky, and quite frankly crappy, but thats the way Six Flags works...deal with it.

And i'm not sure but i think Raptor Rules is 2 years old...how many times are we going to argue about the parks-and which is better...opinions, opinions...let me just tell you, nobody ever wins.

However...If you ever happen to get to MM to watch them testing S:TE, you will see how much higher the car goes with nobody in it(Just as i'm sure TTD flies over the tophat empty a lot faster than it will with people)...Honestly, it is about 5 feet from the brakes at the top (or whatever those things are). Fortunately enough, one time when i took a trip there (Christmas Eve), me and my buddy sprinted up the hill to be the first on it, and were the only 2 on the car-and we got to ride it twice in a row. After those 2 rides, I have to say S:TE is a completely different ride, you get up so much higher, and get so much more air...guaranteed.

To be honest, there is no absolutely correct definition of a "Roller Coaster"... According to the Merriam Webster Diction is:

1 : an elevated railway (as in an amusement park) constructed with sharp curves and steep inclines on which cars roll

And like TopThrillDude said:

What you lack in intelligence, you make up for in stupidity.

Superman is like power tower but you just shoot up and then you fall down while your looking up.

I would say it isnt a rollar coaster.

Could TTD be any taller?
