Grandstand = Eyesore

Anyone else feel that the grandstand is an eyesore and a obstruction of the view when walking down the midway?? Personally I think that the midway would have looked a lot better without it.

I think it is very cool. It is not right in front of the launch "slot" and it is definately not in the way of seeing the launch. All you have to do is walk down a bit and you can see the whole launch. To me it is one of the coolest parts of the themeing package.

I think you might be the only one Vince, I think it's a great addition for theming, pictures, and over all experience.

The Matrix: Reloaded!

Shorty, right on the mark. I think the grandstands are a brilliant marketing idea that fit perfectly into the theme. The reality is many of the GP will want to see the ride in action, while another significant portion of the GP will have to mind little ones while the older ones ride. IMO, this is the perfect solution - hats off to CP for out of the box thinking.

Vince, I am sure the grandstands stick out when walking down the midway. And grandstands certainly are unique to most theme parks. But because they are unique and stick out because of that fact, I think CP found a happy middle ground with a small functional seating area that also uses the space above the food stands in a perfect themed area.

My $.02.

I love the grandstands! It's now the perfect place to meet my family at certain times throughout the day. I like the top corner that looks towards Power Tower. You might catch me sitting up there sometime, I love to look at the crowd walking by. However; there sure were a lot of "sleepy" teenagers laying around up there! I hope the maintanence crew for the granstands will sweep them up when they do their cleaning!
Personally, I loved the grandstands. Just for the very reason I could watch Dragster and almost feel like I was at a real race.

ditto with neo, as it was nice to sit and watch the ride from grandstands, as if you were at an actual race...

I love the grandstands. Although I was too busy to sit in them on Sunday, they look great, and will probably be a very fun place to sit and enjoy some nachos.

Plus the picture taking opportunities are second to none - notice how many of the pics you've seen were taken from the grandstands.

Yes, the grandstands are a great addition. On Sunday I thought there was plenty of room in the stands for people to sit. I never saw them full. And another point is, most people aren't going to sit there for hours at a time, so the traffic in and out is pretty much constant.

I'm in agree with everyone else about the grandstands. A bit skeptical when I first read about it, all it took was sitting in it for a few launches and I was hooked.

Besides...it also serves as a new home for the defunct nacho stand :)

I thought they were a nice touch. They added to the look of the ride and give a great view for non riders/picture takers. It was a nice place to sit after waiting 5 hours for the ride.

How many rides are cool enough to actually have a grandstand/seating area? Not many.

I like the grandstands.

Seems to be an echo off of my posts, you should look into it Jeff. Anyways, I meant to add that I also used the grandstands to take pictures from, it's an excellent idea..

Cedar Point has lead the way in regards to putting rides in your face and making them interact with nonriders. See Corkscrew, Raptor, even Magnum cutting right through Soak City.

The grandstands are a wonderful idea. If my grandfather were alive he would climb up in there and sit for a couple of hours watching the ride in action.

no, probably just people who also enjoyed the grandstands, gould...

I love the grandstands, I only wished they sold beer and peanuts down below!

I also think its a great GTTP meeting place, its basically in the dead center of the park and its where the show is going to be when all 6 full trains are running!

I totally agree. I see my dad ( a bigger guy ) sitting up in the grandstands people watching. He loves that stuff. I see those being like a grill in the summertime with the sun beating down on them though :). Make sure you turn yourselves every so often so you don't burn on one side ;).

The grand stands are a great idea. The best show at CP this year will eventually have showtimes every 30-40 seconds and you can be the star!
