Goodbye FreeWay, how we will miss you so...

I've been informed that starting today FreeWay is no more. No more stamps, and no more ride again passes for inconvenienced guests.

The reason for this mandate? Budget cuts...

Ironic the VIP tours thing gets attention as the same time as FreeWay goes away. Hmmm.

Ya know, they could drop freeway on Magnum, Wicked Twister, Mantis and Raptor. Put someone on the major rides that have the 2+ hour waits. That is a good way to cut costs.

As for the ride again passes, are they going to do away with the special ride access too? Same entrance...makes you wonder. Someone has to work in the office to offer these services anyway.

Budget cuts my behind. As much money that they are making ($3/pop, $9 for parking), CP cannot be losing money on paying a less than minimum wage worker to work one hour at a freeway kiosk.

Well, I agree almost entirely, but Mantis seemingly needs a freeway if you're going to open it up for ony big rides. That wait is one of the slowest, most annoying and horribly hot waits in the entire park.

If it gets somebody back to working crowd on the Magnum platform, I'm all for it.

FreeWay I can undertstand. I actually couldn't stand the system, as it caused much confusion with the guests who didn't know what it was.

But ride agains? I can't believe it! Ride again passes were awesome and the guests love them.

Looks like I'm never going to go on TTD again. I have a feeling Q-Bot may be getting introduced instead.

I was there today, and there was no Freeway in sight. All of the kiosks are gone, and if a I remember right, so are some of the merge point signs.

I was at the park today and was also informed that Freeway is no longer, i'm really surprised they cut that.

If this is true, I can't believe it.

It appears to be off the web site as well.

I just find it hard to believe they went through all the trouble to modify the Magnum queue for Freeway only to end the program 2 seasons later.

Because of budget cuts? This is exactly why the CP fanboys complain.

If FreeWay gets replaced with a pay system, this is one person who will not be at all happy. I wonder how much they're actually saving by cutting FreeWay? Probably nothing because unless they cut one ride-op position per crew that used FreeWay that op just goes back to an abandoned position.

I'm glad its gone. The system was horribly inconvenient. To only offer stamps for an hour or so is lame. They should implement a system like Disney has that actually works or just have everyone wait in the same line. Or, here's a thought - make the lines faster by dispatching trains faster and not allowing people to carry anything on the train. Putting "carry-ons" in those bins slows the whole load/unload process like no other.

If they're getting ready to implement a q-bot system, I'm sure a whole lot of people will be upset - including me.

Another brilliant move by the once great Cedar Point.

If this is to introduce Q-Bot like I think there is a lot of money to gain by introducing this instead of the free freeway system. :(

What are you doing CP, I hope you guys read this up in the offices. What are you guys thinking, to many things are changing for the worse. Way to go. :(

I agree that there have been some decisions lately that are actually not in the best interests of their guests. The next bad decision that I can see being made is that there will no longer be free water available at food stands. If that happens, I will have to admit that we are starting to go the way of Six Flags.

I'm sure that all the higher-ups that read this site are now crying at their computers and regretting the decision, all because the CP4Eva's last post.

I sure hope there aren’t anymore budget cuts......they SUCK!!!

Oh and regarding the Q-Bots, I used them when Geauga Lake was Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. It was pretty cool, we got to every ride within 3 hours.....and it got us right into the station! It was worth the money. I think it was like $30 per person.

The only problem is that Six Flags has the rights to Q-bot. But that doesn't mean that CP could make their own version to sell a few bucks.
