Good Ideas

What ride do you think was a great idea to build that could of hurt Cedar Point in some way? Why????????????????
Raptor (I know this is in a coaster show or two but I'll share it anyways)-When it was built, it was a very new type of ride type. It was a big risk at $12 million that people might not have liked. This ride basically built up CP's trust factor in new types of rides in my opinion and definately was a big step for the park.

Trim brakes-a necessity???
I don't understand the question.
I think he means what ride that is very popular could have really hurt CP in people didn't like it. Wait, I guess we would never know if everyone hated it....wait...never mind. I'm confused.

Well really isn't everything a risk? The more money that you put into building something, the more of a chance you're taking. That said, yeah, I'm confused too...oh wait, that's normal for me.

Believe it or not, Millennium Force. Especially the engineering part of it. MF could very well have been a disaster for being too intense.

MF Laps: 2
Raptor Laps: 3
Magnum Laps: 2
Power Tower Launches: 1
Power Tower Drops: 1
Sure, everything is a risk, but Cedar Point / Cedar Fair really seems to look at things VERY closely before making those decisions. I agree that Millenium Force was a big risk: after all, CP already has Magnum, a steel coaster renowned for height and speed. MF has a lot of differences, true, and is a great ride in itself, but it could have caused some conflict because the coasters are (in theory) similar.

Actually not nearly as similar as you might think. One slight example was the problem that they had with the wheels initially on Force. There are also some structural concerns that tend to be unique for almost every ride unless its a cookie cutter. Lastly the elevator lift system was of course a question. Sure all of this is thought out, but often the problems end up occurring in the least expected place (ok, yeah that really tends to be almost common sense if you think about it I guess :) ).

The park does look at the designs but there is also a good but of trust put into the company that is actually building the ride.
