Going to CP Aug 24th-26th. Have many questions!

We (2 adults, 2 children) are going to CP this Fri from 5PM to close (8PM), and all day Sat & Sun.

-The Discovery Channel show said people start lining up at 4:00 AM. Is this always true? What time should we get there? If they open at 10:00, how are people getting in at 9:30ish? Are there also long car line to get in to park? People run to rides?

-What are the best times to ride Millennium Force? Don't they have ride time tickets?

-What's a good time to take a break and go back to the hotel to eat lunch and dinner to miss the peak ride times? I hear a good time to ride is during lunch and dinner because everyone else is eating.

-What part of park closes during the laser show (9:00 right?)? How long is it closed? I'm hoping to catch some short lines during this time.

-I'm hoping to be able to ride all the coasters and let the kids ride some kids rides in two days (+ 3 hours). Possible? Too bad they close earlier now. They were closing at 10 on Fridays up until just last week! :(

-Millennium Force - no beepers, cameras, glasses? On the DC show, they made a guy put his beeper in a locker!? What's wrong with a pocket? Are lockers free? Can you keep things in a fanny pack? What about a camera case that attaches to your belt - must it go in the locker? Anyone know where I can find a water bottle that attaches to your belt?

-Recommendations on places to eat in & out of the park?

-The show mentioned a picnic area where people leave their coolers, etc on the table while in the park. Is it safe to leave stuff there?

-Seems like it rains a lot there.? Should we get our own cheap poncho's from WalMart to take, since CP probably overcharges for theirs?

-Which rides should I ride at night? Pics of Iron Dragon that I saw at night looked good. I had ridden The Beast a few times, but finally rode it at night last year for the first time. Completely different at night.

-If we have time to ride the fair type rides, which of them will make you sick? The Spider and Tilt-A-Whirl at fairs can make me sick. The Pirate ship might too. Strange because I've never gotten car sick in my life though. And I'm a pilot!

Thanks!

Well, I don't want to hog all the questions. I'll let others chime in with their remarks. However, I will tell you that your question regarding the laser show is irrelevant. The show is done for the year.

I think that will answer most of your questions.

I will also be there during the time you are there.... Lets hope for good weather.

Next trip to CP on August 25th - 26th!

Good place to eat? Go out one of the back gates (resort or beach gate) and to go TGI Fridays in Hotel Breakers.

Millennium Force: Croakies on your glasses are fine. They're not all that strict as they seemed on the DSC special. That was last year, they've lightned up a bit.

Night ride recommendations: Magnum, Raptor, Millennium Force

It's been raining a bunch around here... so bring the panchos if you still have timt to go get them...

Leaving coolers? Yes, there are two picnic areas just outside the main gate. It's usually okay to leave your stuff there, but be warned, my family had a cooler full of food stolen a few years ago. It DOES happen...

4AM IS A BIT OF A OVERSHOT..IT MAY HAPPEN ON OCCASION OR WHEN FORCE WAS NEW BUT IF YOU GET THERE AT 9AM OR A BIT LATER AND GO RIGHT TO FORCE YOU'LL GET A RIDE IN WITHIN 15 TO 20 MIN IF YOU DON'T RUN.

-What are the best times to ride Millennium Force? Don't they have ride time tickets?

RIDE TIME TICS OR TICKET TO RIDE HAS BEEN ABOLISHED THIS YEAR!! RIDE EARLY TO AVOID THE LINES OR LAST THING AT NIGHT TO END THE NIGHT WITH A BANG. fORCE IS ALWAYS NORMALLY 45 MIN MINIMUM..THIS TIME YEAR THOUGH IS BETTER

-What's a good time to take a break and go back to the hotel to eat lunch and dinner to miss the peak ride times? I hear
a good time to ride is during lunch and dinner because everyone else is eating.

LUNCH AND DINNER IS PRETTY MUCH A ALL DAY THING AT CP..i HAVE NERVER SAW THIS "DIE DOWN PERIOD" SO EAT WHEN YOUR HUNGRY..IF ANYTIME IS BETTER THAN OTHERS I GUESS BETWEEN 12 AND 2 IS WHEN MOST EAT.

-What part of park closes during the laser show (9:00 right?)? How long is it closed? I'm hoping to catch some short lines
during this time.

LIKE WALT SAID..LASER SHOW IS DONE FOR SEASON...DON'T EXPECT ANY LINES TO SHUT DOWN.

-I'm hoping to be able to ride all the coasters and let the kids ride some kids rides in two days (+ 3 hours). Possible? Too
bad they close earlier now. They were closing at 10 on Fridays up until just last week!

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HIT EVERYTHING YOU WANT PLUS YOUR FAVS AGAIN AND AGAIN WITH 2 DAYS..DON'T SWEAT IT TOO MUCH YOU'LL BE FINE ESPECIALLY FOR THE TIME OF YEAR YOUR GOING. LINES WILL BE LONGER DUE TO THE WEEKEND BUT STILL YOU'LL BE FINE WITH TWO DAYS :)STRATEGY IS THE KEY..DO A SEARCH ON THE THREADS..ONE OF THEM MANY OF US POSTED OUR FAV STRATEGIES!

-Millennium Force - no beepers, cameras, glasses? On the DC show, they made a guy put his beeper in a locker!? What's
wrong with a pocket? Are lockers free? Can you keep things in a fanny pack? What about a camera case that attaches to
your belt - must it go in the locker? Anyone know where I can find a water bottle that attaches to your belt?

NOTHING IS FREE AT CEDAR POINT EXCEPTS THE TOILETS..:) DON'T SWEAT THIS EITHER REGARDING BEEPERS AND SUCH ON FORCE..AS LONG AS ITS SECURED ON YOU IN A POCKET OR SUCH YOU WON'T EVEN BE ASKED..DON'T MAKE IT VISIBLE AND YOU'LL BE FINE..BIGGER STUFF WILL BE PUT IN THE 75 CENT LOCKERS RIGHT BY THE LINE QUEUE..TIP: WEAR CARGO SHORTS..THEY WERE MADE FOR US ENTHUSIASTS :)

-Recommendations on places to eat in & out of the park?

IN THE PARK EQUALS FRIDAYS AND MIDWAY MARKET..OUTSIDE OF CP EQUALS WHISTLE STOP ON RT 6 AND ALL THE CHAINS ON MILAN AVE! YOU HAVE YOUR CHOICE AS THERE ALL THERE

-The show mentioned a picnic area where people leave their coolers, etc on the table while in the park. Is it safe to leave
stuff there?

VERY SAFE..I'VE BEEN DOING IT SEVERAL TIMES A SEASON FOR 15 PLUS YEARS AND NEVER HAD PROBLEMS..THERES A COMMON COURTESY WE ALL FOLLOW AT CP WHEN IT COMES TO THE PICNIC SHELTER..PLUS ITS MONITORED BY CREW.

-Seems like it rains a lot there.? Should we get our own cheap poncho's from WalMart to take, since CP probably
overcharges for theirs?
THATS YOUR CALL BUT YES PANCHOS ARE A BUCK OR TWO MORE THAN YOUR LOCAL WALMART...

-Which rides should I ride at night? Pics of Iron Dragon that I saw at night looked good. I had ridden The Beast a few
times, but finally rode it at night last year for the first time. Completely different at night.

RIDE AS MANY AS YOU CAN AT NIGHT..THEY HAVE HAVE THEIR OWN UNIQUE FEATURE BUT DO PLAN ON FORCE AND MAGGY AND RAPTOR!

-If we have time to ride the fair type rides, which of them will make you sick? The Spider and Tilt-A-Whirl at fairs can
make me sick. The Pirate ship might too. Strange because I've never gotten car sick in my life though. And I'm a pilot!

WE'VE ALL GOT DIFFERENT TOLERANCES! DO WHAT DOESN'T BOTHER YOU..ONLY YOU KNOW YOUR BODY

HOPE THAT HELPS AND HAVE FUN :)

I think that will answer most of your questions.

I had peeked at this before. It said the park opens an hour early. So they actually let you in at 9:00, but the rides start around 10:00?

Also someone mentioned going in the marina entrance (less people waiting there I guess?). Is there parking there? Do all the entrances open at the same time?

We're gonna get 2 season's passes from TOPS since even for 2.5 days it'd be cheaper to just buy them (not buying them for the 2 kids). What is TOPS anyway?

I am not sure about the opening at this time of year.  Can someone clearify this?  I am interested myself.

If you are staying on site, then use the resort enterance on the beach.  The line will be MUCH shorter and any additional distance you travel (ie to MF) is made up by getting thru the gate quicker.

Hope this helps!  Be sure to stop me if you see me on Saturday!  I will be wearing my great and wonderful White Michigan hat that is in my profile pic!

Jeffrey, thanks for all the info. I would have mentioned that in my last post, but you must have sent your message as I was typing mine. I'm wearing the printer out today. Stuff to read on that 7-8 hr trip (from Nashville, TN).
Ah yeah... Putergeek will be the guy wearing the Michigan cap.  That'll narrow it down to about 1/3 of the people in the park!  ;)

The gates should open at 9:30 actually... at the beginning of the year they were waiting for 10:00 but now they pretty much let people in at 9:30 everyday...  most of the rides will open at 10 (so you can get to them first) but MF usually opens early.

For strategy, GO TO THE BACK OF THE PARK FIRST.  You will not regret it.  You can run to MF right after the gates open and wait around 10-20 minutes, hit Mantis, then head to the back, or you can just head right back there when the gates open.  In the morning to early afternoon, Mean Streak, Mine Ride, the water rides, Gemini, and Magnum will all have very short lines, take advantage of it!  The time to head to the front for Raptor, Blue Streak, Disaster Transport, etc is around 3 or 4.  In between, you can do Power Tower, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, and Wildcat.

DEFINITELY RIDE MILLENNIUM FORCE AT NIGHT.  Magnum and Raptor are the other "must rides" at night.

You shouldn't have any problem with hitting all the coasters, plus getting a bunch of rides in for the kids.  Enjoy the PO!NT!

Steuks!!

The only problem is on the 24th and 26th, you really can't get night rides because the park closes at 8pm. I suggest riding Magnum till about 9:45 Saturday and then hop over to Millennium Force. I doubt Magnum  and Raptor will have long enough lines Friday and Sunday to get those night rides, but Millennium Force may.

Brian you're lucky cuz you have kids so you can ride jr. gemini. And don't forget about woodstock express either.

As for food, midway market all the way. 10$ all you can eat, you can't go wrong.
