We were heading up to cedar point (3 hour drive) but already booked at the breakers express, so basically too late to cancel without losing money.. what are the odds of getting a full weekday of riding in, on a day where it may be occasionally storming.. how long after a passing storm to they resume a ride?
In this case i am talking about monday, the 18th.. looking like a 60% chance of rain throughout the entire day (frontal passage day it appears)..
Any thoughts on if this day will be a waste based on past experiences?
I've gone on days where there was an 80% chance of rain and it only sprinkled for about 5 minutes. Just go, rain usually keeps crowds away. Everything will likely be minimal waits that day. They usually restart rides as soon as it's done raining, some still run as long as there is no lightning. If there was lightning, I think it's 30 minutes after the storm passes.

It's a little early to predict rain at this point (paging Walt...).
And really, a day that predicts rain and ultimately delivers good weather can be a great recipe for low crowd levels. At least that's what I'm hoping for this weekend. :-)
Regarding your reservation, I believe you can change a reservation without penalty.

There was about a 60% chance on Mothers' Day but all we got while we were at the park was a bit of drizzle while we were eating lunch. Just go.
Way too earlier to tell right now, but, in general, it's pretty rare during the pre-Labor Day portion of the operating season for there to be an all-day washout. If you can change plans on a moment's notice, that's one thing. But unless your plans are flexible, I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm going the 16th. It says 80% chance of rain. It doesn't sound good, but I'm still going. $150 for a room at Hotel Breakers, and an extra hour to ride 2 things after 10 is too good to pass up.
The weather report said 60% on Opening Day and we got rides in from 9am- about 6:00 pm, then the rains came.. Again, just go for it. I've seen it rain all the way driving to Cedar Point and even in Sandusky, but then to arrive at the park and it be bone dry and have a full day of nice weather.
Rain is extremely hard to predict around there because of all the water that surrounds the Point. But unless it is a huge system that stretches from the top of Ohio to the bottom (or something similar), chances are damn good that it will be hit or miss all day. I can't count how many times I have seen it be sunny, and warm on Point, yet if you look over the bay towards town it was obviously raining. Again, learn how to read, and interpret radar, acquaint yourself with several good weather resources, and make your own predictions. But don't be scared by the numbers. Make your own forecasts, and you will probably be fine.
