Going Down? With a Twist.

I really hope this ride does NOT twist on the way down. I'd rather go 90 degrees straight down for about 300 feet than deal with some Intamin twists. Twists are going to ruin the height aspect on the way down. Besides, if you want twists then go to WT.

Anybody agree?

I kind of thought the same way....I need to see it and experience it before I make a final judgement...
To me, it will enhance the ride. If you are up front, you'll be able to see all the way down to the ground, but through the partial circle. If you want a straight drop near 90 degrees, ride MF.

Don't want near 90 degrees, I WANT 90 for a full 300 feet down. Don't get me wrong, MF is the best ride I've been on but due to the lack of info CP is giving, I'm thinking this ride is going to be different.............

Well, you got a ride with no twists, (MF) and a ride with twists, (WT) But if you think about it, there isn't a ride that twists when you are in the front seat going forward. So in a way, it would provide a new experience.

Actually, I think they will give it a twist. I have no reason for saying so.

Oh yeah, if there's bugs on your shirt, you had a good ride.

I am personally looking forward to a downward spiral. The ride will be so short anyway that the crazier it is in those few seconds the bigger the rush. While it hasn't become clear yet on where the twist will begin, I'm hoping that there is a brief part of track where it is straight 90 degrees down and then throws you into the twist all while rapidly increasing speed. I think it will add to the chaos of the 15 seconds of ride time.

Although I was initially disappointed with the likely length of the ride, I am now looking forward to a coaster that doesn't give me a second to think about what's going on until the train hits the brakes. Acceleration, airtime, falling out of control back to the earth, and screech to a stop. It sounds like pure adrenaline to me.

I agree with screammachinekid. I can't ever say that I've experienced a vertical twist while already going down with momentum. I wonder what kind of g-forces that will pull

Personally.. I think I would have dug the simple 90 degree twist just as much or possibly more than the 270 degree twist that this ride seems to be pulling off.

Someone mentioned this back in August or September. And the point that they were trying to make is that this coaster is basicly a very tall, full-circut version of WT!!!
Except for the fact that you aren't going backwards. Or are we?. . .

I wish we could have both a drop that is straight down and one with the twist. But since it's L-TH-B than i guess that can't happen. Although you guys do make a good point, you could just ride MF. I'm not sure which one I would like better tho. Xcelerator's drop was really cool. When you look from the top down and the track goes directly to the right. It was kinda weird. But since we do have MF in the park I guess I could settle for the twist whether i like it or not.
I agree Dude, having both on one ride would be sweet. Yeah, MF has close to 90 degree drop, as does WT with its twists.

It will be interesting to see which ride becomes the most popular ride in the park over the next few years. Will #16 be ranked like Raptor, MF, and Magnum - or will it end up like Mean Streak.

Tom

To think in 20 years it will be ranked like we rank Disaster Transport now...

Can Food Drive?

I don't. Look at S:TE. That ride is basically the same concept. You go up, you go down. That ride is still popular at SFMM (although personally I think it sucks).

HA, I don't know about Superman: The Escape sucking raptor323. I love the airtime it provides. I think what you meant to say was, this new coaster at CP will kick Superman's behind. And in that case I agree!

Michael Corio, I do agree with you on this. I'd love to have the twisting over and done with before the descent begins. I think that would really be the best of both worlds. I also agree with you about The Force!

To me, CP has been building up to this ride for the past few years. Think about it...if CP didn't add their past two coasters, and just all of a sudden decided to plop down a 400 foot monster, do you think that some people that are scared of heights, extreme speeds, or fast acceleration would ride it in a heart beat? I doubt it.

I remember back in 2000 when MF was new, I heard a lot of people flat out refuse to ride it, or it toom tham a lot of coaxing.

This year they added WT to give guests, who might be hesitant to ride a twisting launched coaster, a taste of what's to come.

Next year, they combine the rides, and amp it up a few notches. 200 feet taller than WT, 100 feet taller than MF--60 mph faster launch than WT, 20-30 mph faster than MF.

MF and WT were like baby steps (although big baby steps) for people that would otherwise be hesitant to ride, or not ride "Dragster" at all. WT also gave two big middle fingers to SFWoA, also. :)

i think it would be better if they did not have any twists (other than the 90* to get back to the original direction). the twists might take away from some of the freefall feeling.

I personally think the twist will be intresting. :o

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is over comming it.

Well, I don't think it will have any big twists like a 270 or whatever. I think you'll turn back 90 degrees, then head into an overbanked turn over to Millennium Island. L-TH-B my butt! ;)
