I was staying with my girlfriend, her sister, her sister's friend and my gf's mom on the sceond-to-last weekend of the year in Breakers. We were in the building that is towards Wicked Twister from the main entrance (I don't know the hotel well at all - first time I was ever in it in fact). The room we had was facing the park, and you could see TTD, Corkscrew, PT, etc. clearly.
I was in a wedding Saturday, so drove up Saturday night and got there at like midnight. After talking for a while, my gf's sister mentioned casually to watch out for the ghost they'd seen the night before. I just looked at her, but she described waking up in the middle of the night to see a definite human figure in the corner of the room just watching her. My gf who was in the other bed the night before said she saw the same thing a little later that night after waking up for no apparent reason. I told them that it was probably just park lights and looked outside to see what lights were aimed into the room. I saw none that were directly, but the PT and TTD lights could have cast their light on the corner of the room they were talking about.
Well the next morning, although I hadn't seen it, my sister's gf again said she saw it, and her mom's cigarette carton was moved from the table right by the corner the supposed ghost was in to the nightstand beside her, as well as the ashtray.
Now, its pretty sketchy for a ghost story, I'll admit, but it was a little odd - anyone ever hear a ghost story from that part of Breakers or any other part of Breakers? (yes its officially the off-season ... )

Just curioous, what part of the hotel does the ghost of Mary reside in? I'm thinking the rotunda. Also, what ghost haunts the Bon Aire section?

Maniaman: Most people at work don't like to talk about Mary, so I don't have much info on her. I have heard that she does reside in the Rotunda. With Bon Aire, there have been stories of one of the rooms always being super cold, even in the middle of summer, or the smell of cigar smoke indicating that a ghost is nearby. As far as I know, that ghost doesn't have a name.
Not sure about any of them to tell you the truth, I (unfortunately) haven't experienced anything first hand...and I know what first hand experience would be...the dorm I lived in for 3 years was haunted and I had some encounters with the ghosts, as did my roommate and other residents...kinda creepy yet fascinating at the same time. Anyways...who knows, the stories I've heard might have just been made up and passed on to entertain and get people talking, or maybe it's someones imagination going wild and thinking they experienced something when they really didn't. I know that one lady I talked to this summer was 100% convinced she had a ghost in her room, so it's possible! :)

I seem to remember reading so,ewhere (I think on this site) that Mary is the ghost of a person who killed herself in the shower. I aslo seem to remember reading the Mary is a friendly ghost.
Edit: Thinking of it now, I do believe Mary played 1 little trick on us. For no reason at al, an hour or so after we got the the hotel room our alarm clock went off. Although it could have been the people staying in the room the day before us.
