Getaway Guide Mystery?!!!

i bet no one can find one person on a roller coaster in the guide with their hands up.

try for yourself and i bet u cant.

it is so weird that no one has them up.

i think its that they dont want to condone doin that.

Weird...you'd think they control the people who they put in the brochures to enforce the rules or something.

From http://www.ohioagriculture.gov/pubs/divs/amus/curr/amus-fs-ridesafety-011604.stm

Section 1711.551 of the Revised Code requires that riders must obey all warnings and directions regarding this ride and behave in a manner that will not cause or contribute to injury to themselves or others. Failure to comply is a misdemeanor.” The law serves as a deterrent to dangerous horseplay by patrons, the major cause of amusement ride accidents. In the last four years, more than 80 percent of amusement ride injuries in Ohio have been caused by human error or horseplay unrelated to the condition or operation of the ride.

As you can see, failure to comply with the rules is a misdemeanor. If CP published photos of riders with their hands-up or other negligent acts, CP could be held liable for failure to enforce these rules. This equates to deep *crap* for CP from the perspective of their insurer. Of course as you implied, it also projects an image of "safe riding" habits and a safe environment to the public. This ultimately improves public awareness of "the rules" and perception of CP as a safe place, making investors and the insurance crowd happy...

To my knowledge, employees are typically used in photo shoots, in part minimize horse play but also to avoid going through the trouble of casting and paying others to sit in. *** Edited 5/26/2004 5:42:14 AM UTC by DaveTKoch***

They actually do control the people. When they do a photo shoot CP has it's employee's as the riders. They gave us guidelines as to how we were going to ride and what to wear. When I worked at the park I did the Millennium photo shoot I was told not to wear clothes with big prominent logos and to wear summer colors. When we got on to ride they told us to keep our hands down and sit upright througout the entire ride. Look at any of the photo's of the rides on the CP web site and they are all the same way. So yeah they really do control the people that they put in the brochures.
Right, marketing is a big issue there also.

Maybe if everyone held on during the ride and didn't put there hands up we wouldn't be haveing this seat belt problem with people falling out. Responsability for one self is the key to safety
oh yeah

i just thought it was weird

didnt think alot of poeple would catch that no one was holding their hands up is all.

i noticed it and was like whooo

I don't think holding on or not holding on while riding an Intamin giga coaster makes a difference with the restraints. I have a feeling the person may have been trying to get out. It could have been a lack of inspection from the ride's operators. At CP, they always shove the lap bar into your pelvic area untill you nearly pee your pants and they tug on the seatbelt so tight that you do wet your pants (obviously, im exagerating).

I was at Six Flags Islands of Adventure a few years ago before Cedar Fair purchased the property and their ride ops were pretty lazy. On double loop, nobody even came to check the restraints for me. ON corkscrew, someone always pushes it down all the way and tugs on it to make sure it locked.

That guy who died may have done something that tricked the ride ops that his lap bar was all the way down or something.

I've noticed this before.

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

I agree Cedar Point ops are really catious when it comes to restraints. I can remember them checking me twice for the wicked twister. Even on Blue Streak they check the bar. Hey Robert 1282, are you in any of the getaway pictures? It'd be cool to see you.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

A topic like this came up before and I remember someone caught this photo on the Cedar Point website. http://cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/RCrides.cfm?defimg=1 Scroll down to the Gemini photo, tiny but definetly hands up.
