Gemini's 3rd train

I noticed the other day while riding MS that Gemini's 3rd train (both red & blue) was sitting on the 'infield' of MS by the maintainance building. Do they always do this around this time of the year, or could this mean something? Or do they just not have a need for it on the capacity king of the world!?

I know the 3rd trains went over by MS toward the end of last year. They were still sitting on the transfers when I was there Wednesday. Does anyone know if a full time 6 train operation will ever return? I only saw them running 6 twice out of my 14 trips this summer, the rest of the time they were only running 4, and sometimes only 2.

Who finally met the infamous Magnum Dan!

Last year they were running 6 during the busy days. Really they only need to run four, it keeps the line down to 5-10 minutes

Back in the last wkend of July, they were running full six-train operation. However last week when I was at the Point, Gemini was shut down for much of my two-day trip. The first day I remember seeing one of the blue trains stopped on the block brakes with passengers aboard. On the second day of my trip, Gemini was running, but only four train operation, with a red and blue train sitting on the transfer track.

well, from the last report that i heard when i left cp, Gemini will be the next coaster to get airgates and a dispatch enable button. due to the block set up and intervul time, this means that Gemini will have to go down to 4 trains(2 per side). if they kept 6, there would be constant c-sets.

Actually, the trains being taken off have nothing to do with the supposed airgates. They take two of our trains off around this time every year. It is not necessary to run six anymore.

And as for us not running six very much, where have you guys been? Saturdays in June, everyday in July and the first two weeks of August, we were running six trains.

We've been through this before...

If gates are installed and operated properly on Gemini, they would have NO EFFECT on the time required to load and unload the train. The limiting factor is still the @#$! seat belts which, I point out again, could be dramatically improved by using a different style of buckle.

Likewise, a co-dispatch button CORRECTLY INSTALLED (that is to say, NOT as on Magnum...) should not have a detremental effect on the operation of the ride.

Gemini still needs to be able to run six trains.

I personally think it is stupid that the park takes trains off and doesn't leave them on the transfer track all season. For example, look at Mantis. If they're going to store train #1 under the station all season, they might as well just put the thing together and leave it on the transfer track. That way if something is terribly wrong with a train or a bunch of harnesses are broken, they can put the other train on and take one off (since the crew is incapable of running 3 trains and management won't let them try) to keep capacity up. I also think Cedar Creek Mine Ride should have train #1 on the transfer track just incase it is ever needed. Sure, the new computer system only allows 4 trains to be run and the crew will never run with more than 3 because more than 3 trains aren't needed, but the trains should be left on the transfer track in case they are ever needed. I also don't understand why all trains just aren't left on the transfer track so the trains can be rotated to cause less wear and tear. I mean, Disaster Transport does it.

As far as Gemini's 3rd trains on each side being taken off, I think it is stupid. What if a Saturday is packed? Oh well, I guess guests can just wait in line longer and spend less money on merchandise thus keeping the per capita spending in the park down. But I guess taking 2 trains off a ride will cause less money to be poured into maintaining those 2 trains, causing the park to save money.

We REALLY needed our 3rd trains on the Sunday before Labor Day, we had full queues and a line on the midway.

Actually, I would not put the entire blame on not being able to have 3 train operation on the Mantis crew. Getting 32 people to stand up together is quite frustrating. When guests decide to stop bouncing or sitting down when in their seat supporters, then we will be able to once again have 3-train operation. But I don't see that happening soon.
