Gemini Station

Sorry if this topic has came up before, but my computer has been down for a few weeks. When I was in Gemini's station on Sunday 09/30/01, I couldn't help to notice the banners and glass from the skylight gone. In the place of the glass was clear plastic to keep the rain and elements out of the station. Does anyone know what's up with this, and what they are doing??
I'm asuming there was a window break, or their simply replacing them!

CEDAR POINT YES, SIX FLAGS NO! GOD BLESS AMERICA, THE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE!
Whenever I'm in the Gemini station it feels like I'm in an airport terminal because of all the flags and skylights. It's really cool.....I just hope they put the flags back up. It's like a symbol of the ride to me! :)

Maybe the birds nesting up there finaly wanted to get out. They could have just used the exit like everyone else.

I rode Gemini more than once during a day.

Maybe they put them in storage for the winter so they wouldn't have to do it later. I seriously doubt they woud keep the banners up in the off-season or any glass because of nasty winter weather.

First off, this is my 200th post...yay me...

As for my question...For most of this season, has the Gemini queue been open for the front and back sections of the train or have they kept the front blocked by that awful trashcan?

-----------------
!

I have seen the front open a few times this year. But then I have also seen the whole day go by and the blue trains not run.
Here is the deal with the two queues. To begin with, the majority of guests excepting the wonderful people who post here are really damn stubborn. It goes without saying that when we open up the line for the front of our station, everyone thinks that it guarantees them the front seat. Through some horrible miscalculation, the front entrance was made too small to accomodate the lines for the front, thus creating a bottleneck effect that stops the line and forces us to send empty trains because noone is willing to A) give up their place for the front seat or B) push other people out of their way to get a seat in the middle of the train. the most effective way for us employees to preclude this disaster is to only leave the back open, forcing people to filter through the entire station to get to the front. It makes it easier for us and also gives us a better chance of sending fuller, faster trains. The only time we open up the front is if we are running 5 or 6 trains because people can't run up through the back quickly enough to keep up with our intervals. If this is the case, we have a person sitting at the front entrance with a stick screaming at everyone to "keep the line moving into the station." This position is probably the most undesirable position to do on the mighty Gemini--just ask Tek from Millennium Force who helped us out for a week and nearly had a nervous breakdown from having to yell so much. Because only four trains are in operation for the rest of the season, I doubt that front entrance will open for the rest of the year.

Yep, when 6, er um 5 trains are running it is OK. I still never go up there and usually enter from the back and get seat 1-3, much easier than I would going from the front.

I remember well during the Gemini 100 when it was open either Hooper or Dan started yelling as we were walking up that people should go to the front because it is a better ride.  I think we know the real reason was for them to get out of our way and join the others in the front to get bottlenecked :).

On the other hand I find it funny when only the back is open people seem to wait there and there is hardly a line for the front!

I so agree with Dan, no one seems to understand the concept that the front of the que doesn't necessarly mean the front seat. The worst part is that people stand in line, don't listen to us, then we have to close the line. They honestly don't believe that we would ever actually close the front line, but we have done it. And to answer the million dollar question...we have actually had full queses and a line out to the midway a few times...what can I say...we're just that cool.

Gemini Crew 2001. I loved the Gem100!!

The problem I have with only having the back line open is that when you get a group of people who file into the back section first and congest the station back there, it stops the line from progressing for everyone. I for one don't like sitting in the front. So one year I jumped into line for the 1st seat on the last car and it seemed like everyone else wanted to do the same. Since the front line was closed the dude monitoring the line started shouting at us all to move toward the front of the train. I thought that was pretty uncool. After the guy kept yelling to us to move up for a while, we did, which made for a pretty boring ride. It just seemed like a more congested situation than I've seen when both queueueueues are open.

TThe banners and windows were down so the Gemini station could get a much needed paint job. If you'll be in the park this weekend it will be a nice mix of the old green and some new greyish-purple primer...
If it stops raining.. LOL.. good luck there..

Os it just me, or has Gemini's station supports recently been painted purple?

Yep..it was very purple looking today. I would assume that the purple is the primer, or else the painters are colorblind. It wasn't a very flattering color for Gemini :)

Millennium Force looks too cold for me.
When I walked in the station I was totally confused! It doesn't confuse me that they painted it, but the fact they painted it purple.

The yellow lines were painted too. So, now they really stand out!

To the last two posters: please read more carefully before posting.  Dustin told you that the purple was just a primer!
