There are always a few rollbacks during each season. Well today I WITNESSED my very first rollback at Cedar Point. I just got out of my car and I saw the blue train going up the Gemini lift, I was surprised it was running in the bad wind and rain. Anyway I saw the start the drop and then I looked down, I looked back up and I saw the blue train rolling back down the second hill. It didn't come close to cresting the second hill at all. I frantically grabbed my camera and ran across the road over to the employee lot and saw the train roll to a stop, it only took a few minutes and the train finally came to a stop. When I was leaving the park around 6pm they just finshed taking the last car off the track.

Are those pics going to be on your website?
Wow. Deep down, I kinda want to be on a train that rolls back. :) I know it would be so scary, but I think it would be awesome to brag to all my friends that I was on a coaster that rolled back. :) That's a selfish desire if I ever heard one. :) Side question: Was this with people in it or during morning testing?

Speaking of rollbacks, I should of mentioned this in the first post but I was on a rollback on Volcano, I was also in the front seat. :)
Then a few nights ago while I was staying at Breakers I had a MF dream that the ride rolledback right before the final banked turn. I was sitting in the raised row of car five with my brother. Jeff and Jeffery Spartan were sitting infront of me and Brandon and Hooper were sitting behind me. It felt so real.

How often does a rollback occur at CP?
Because the Gemini second hill is almost as high as the first remember how you slow down alot so you can slap the peoples' hands in the other train it is probably the most likely ride especially in bad weather to roll back. It happened when I was at the point two years ago. No people were in it.
It was pretty cool flying past the motionless car cause it looked like your train could almost hit it.
I’m curious - about what time was it when the rollback occurred?

Actually, I heard they are having problems with the 'Blue' track. They were testing it all day about a week ago.
How do they get the train back to the station after a roll back?

"Any day, is a great day, to ride a rollercoaster!"
They take it off with a crane and reconnect the cars on the transfer track.
Well they get the train back to the station by taking it apart, so the cars are all seprate. Then they lift them with a crane and reassemblr them on the side track.

So Cedar Point has a crane and they just move it on in when theres a roll back? Im just wondering because I never saw a crane at the park.

Yes the park has at least one crane that I know of. If you were at Coastermania for the ERT on Millennium Force you may have seen the crane in use while workers were welding the track on Iron Dragon.
Heres pictures that Dan took when Mean Steak rolled back. Ifound them in the news section.

It's just a small crane, but it *is* a crane, and it can handle half-ton coaster cars with relative ease...
One day a few years ago on a cold day, Gemini Blue had rolled back, but instead of taking the train apart, they had set up some pulleys and a long piece of wire rope attached to a Bobcat that was driving around in the 'infield'. They just towed the train over the tops of selected hills. I wonder how they decide which method to use to clear a rollback...

What is going on with the blue train. During one of my trips last year the blue train didn't run most of the time. When it did run though it was very, very slow. It was just finishing the helix when the other train was in the station.
-------------
Remember, line jumping is NOT a sporting event!
They've been running it without trims nearly every time this year. Gotta love that. There are three blue trains, so whatever difference you think you see, you don't.
