Gemini Down?

Gemini was only running the Red side when I was there last Friday 7/19.

Does this confirm Gemini is on the way out?

I don’t think a ride running only 1 side due to a low attendance day has to do with the ride being “on the way out”.

It was racing on Sunday afternoon and evening. My first race of the year as I’ve only seen red so far. I feel like they like keeping Gemini but they wish it was in a different area so they could have better connection between the parks and lots.

Today the park tweeted pictures of the banners in the Gemini and Corkscrew stations. Clearly this indicates that both rides are going nowhere for another 25 years. :-)

Actually, a tweet of a banner guarantees only 7 years. A repaint of the trains guarantees an additional 10, so while Corkscrew is looking at a good 17 more years of service, Gemini is still on the chopping block for 2027.

FYI.

I remember the Gemini banners but don't remember if I remember the Corkscrew banners. They look nice.

I can say I think they done something to Gemini this off season. I noticed the last few times I’ve ridden it that it seems a hell of a lot smoother.

Anyone else notice that?

Why would they do that when it’s gonna be torn down soon? Didn’t you hear? It was only running one side that one day. #choppingblock

Today's livecam shows both red and blue running and racing.

Man I wish the park would make up their minds already! Are they gonna tear it down or not? One thing is for sure, if you don’t want Gemini to go, let’s make sure to keep this running status update going - that way the park knows you care. #savegemini

Gemini ran three cycles with the red train only on Friday while the blue train had a guest illness cleaned from it. Then when they sent that blue train around for a few empty laps to air dry, they did not dispatch it to race with the loaded red trains.

Say what you will, but to me that is a sign for the 2020 and 2021 plans and how Gemini's future may be impacted by said plans.

It would be great if the operators learned when to release the trains out of the station so that they would end up equal after the last turn and racing back to the finishing helix. There have been operators in the past that learned how to do that. Let the blue train go and then after so many seconds, let the red train go. The red has the advantage of being on the inside track for 2 of the 3 turns.

True but of the racing coasters I've been on, Gemini has been good about keeping it fairly close for the racing effect.
Some are really terrible. Kings Island and Kennywood Racer come to mind. They didn't even try to sync trains when I was there.
