Gemini can't keep it up...

Whats up with Gemini now. I know before the blue train was having some problems so did they fix it and is it running with all six trains.

Gemini also had its second hill reconstructed because when it was first built, the second hill was too high.

Not true Jeff Da Beat...Another one for the Unbran Legends of Amusement Parks.

So has anyone been there and seen both sides working yet? i want to go racing at the end of the month! Was the blue side down for so long because of understaffing/not that many people in the park? The last time i was there was the 13th and i know that the blue side was running last friday but not the red.

Here is the story on Gemini....

Second curve above station was rebuilt in the mid 80's to make the ride smoother - the first drop after the curve was lowered to smooth out the drop. First hill has remained the same since opening.

Blue side has always had problems on the first hill since the ride opened - it is the outside track on the first curve so it has a higher and farther distance to travel. Any cool or windy days will effect the blue trains until they get warmed up and travel a few times - but high winds can effect the blue side anytime.

the weight is not that bad. The sad part is they are not sand bags they are washer bags.

it wasn't down because of understaffing. There was only one side running because of low crowd density... (not enough riders to make it worth runing the other side)

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

Cold weather and wind effect Gemini A Lot more than people might think. It does effect the blue side more so than the red, BUT it all depends on which direction the wind is blowing. If the wind is coming from the direction of Mean Streak, then it effects the red trains. Last season the wind was blowing so hard that it STOPPED the red train in the horseshoe above the station. It didnt roll back, or forward......Just Stopped during a morning test run.

And rollbacks are fairly common at the beginning of the season due to the wind and cold weather. But only when the trains are empty during test runs. When it rolls back they usually take each car off with a crane and put the train back together on the transfer track. unless the rollback is in the spiral, then they can pull it into the station with a cable. And no, Gemini doesnt have Upstop wheels they use the metal pads.
