Gemini

Does anybody have any thing they remember about Gemini when it opened?
I remember it opened "late" because of the harsh winter of '78. I remember a full page ad in the Sunday PD (Cleveland) on Father's Day screaming The Gemini is Now Opened. As for the exact date, sorry...Where is Dinosaur when we need her? *** This post was edited by Old Timer Tim on 5/30/2001. ***
I remember going there that year. With the parents (I was only 9 at the time) for Century 21 Day (both parents worked there) and standing in the line with my dad, his partner, the wives and one of the kids. The whole line my dad was trying to convince people to go on it telling them that after the first drop (you have to remember, it was a record back then) it's easy.

As we sat down in the train (blue.. I remember it) Brent (dad's partner) says "So after the first drop it's easy?".. dad turns to him and says "I assume so.. I've never ridden this before" and off we are.. I spent most of the ride laughing...

MF 2001 - Tell ya when I hit triple digits....
I remember how impressive it looked and how long the lines were. As we all know, at least the lines move fast.
I remember stories from my mom when she worked there during the summer it opened. She got to ride it twenty straight times while maintenance was working out something in the station. Good times.

I am a limited prepster! Good times.
I remeber riding with my dad,, first the blue car,,then the red. The first ride, I thought we were gonners on that first hill.. we laughed the whole way thru the ride. Told my Dad that that was better than the Thunderbolt! He aggreed. Then changed his mind later. (Dad was a thunderbolt Junkie)(it runs in the family). Of course that was in 1981...I think.

I remember working there that season in 1978. In "Behind the Lines", the in-house employee newsletter, they had an interview with two of the employees of Gemini, who, you guessed it, were TWINS. Wonder how they happened to get hired for that particular ride? I'll check the archives to see about the opening date. Pretty sure it was in June.
