Hey i was just wondering if there was one car that wins every time or if it changes. I was there twice last summer and when i rode the blue car won and the second time the blue wasn't even running,
First post!
It depends on how well they're dispatched, and which train is heavier.

The key is to get the whole train rowing like it is a boat on the curves. You will win for sure then.
And my friend thought I was crazy telling him to row like it was a boat. I knew I wasn't the only one.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
A few of us have actually renamed Gemini to "Mercury" since we only ever see it running the red side.

Last year I saw the red side winning quite a bit. For some reason I favor the blue train, I wish it was running more frequently though :(
If both trains leave the station at the same time, the blue side will usually 'win' because it has a shorter path from the station to the base of the lift. There is a complication, though, because the red lift is slightly faster. Another complication is that warm-up is very important to Gemini; on cooler days, it will barely make it all the way around the circuit the first time unless it is fully loaded, and during the first hour or so of operation the train speed will very dramatically. So if one side 'just woke up' then, as they say, "all bets are off".
The entire difference in the track length seems to be between the station and the lift, and Arrow did a pretty good job of equalizing the performance around the high curves, so if both trains come off the lift together (which does happen from time to time) you should see a tie when the trains come back.

You guys aren't entirely right. It was build so that after the lift, the red side has 2 for lack of a better word "inside" turns, because Arrow knew that the blue train would be ahead on the lift. If both trains have been running all morning and all trim brakes are off the red will finish by about a 1/2 train ahead of the blue. I asked last year, and to prevent the red from winning every time the trim brakes are set higher just before the last giant turnaround. Many times red is ahead going sown the last stretch, but after the helix, blue finishes slightly ahead. This is due to the trim brakes. It really can be set up any way they want. If you watch them test, like after a rain delay they use no trims and the red will finish about a 1/2 train before blue every time. During operation, however weight and how hard the trims are applied, as well as chain speed(caused often by amount of weight) have affects on the ride. Often times the side that the TL is on uses very little to no trims. It seems to be blue this year.
Is one train rougher than the other? I usually ride the red train (because usually the blue is closed). And not once was it a rough ride. But the other day we rode the blue train, and it was Mean Streak rough. Is it just me? Or has anyone else felt it too?

I know what you mean. I have noticed that same thing in the blue train, although not as bad or even as close as the mean streak. It has 2-3 points on the blue side that is rougher. Also it is probably random that you have not seen the Blue train as much because the train the starts the day alone and ends the day alone is rotated every other day. I know this for sure because at the end of 2007 the red train finished the year and opening day 2008 the blue train started. Also i count from trip to trip during the summer and almost always the trains are rotating. Also the train the has been running longer can be a little bit rougher if they take the trims off.
Gemini is a figure-eight. The tracks are very close to being the same length.

I have felt it on both. I would take Mean Streak over Gemini any day.

^ Really? I have never once had a rough ride in the red train.

Anyone gonna be there for the 30th gig on the 17th?
Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.
^^I rode it Monday June 2nd and it hurt worse than Mantis and MS put together. The 1st hill was extremely painfull. The worst part, however, was the final helix. O.U.C.H.

Yeah, that final helix is pretty rough no matter which color train you are in.

Come on that is taking it a bit too far. For one it is a STEEL roller coaster, how can it be as bad as mean streak, and second it has lap bars. Come on!! What is the 30th gig on the 17th?. I haven't herd anything about it? If it involves Gemini though i will be there!!
http://www.pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/23056.aspx That is what is going on the 17th. Gemini is having a birthday party because it's turning 30 years old. :)
