Snoopy Rocks! On Ice starts June 22--Do you think they'll let me drive the Zamboni machine?
I want to drive the Zamboni!
I wasn't aware that is was to protest fathers day and I'm not sure if that's accurate. I just thought they all happened to go on that day. It isn't an offical park sponsered event, but yes, there are a lot of gay people there that day. Not to freak you guys all out, but every day is gay day at Cedar Point! Probably close to half the employees are gay. I am not one of them, but to say the CP employees blow the 1 in 10 theory out of the water would be an understatement. It really doesn't make any difference though as most people are just there to do their jobs and have fun just like everyone else. I'll admit that I felt a bit odd at the beginning of last summer, but I have to be honest and say that probably one of my best friends from CP was gay, so I definitely think I learned to be a lot more tolerant and understanding. Perhaps others need to do the same.
Edit: I don't know what you mean by protesting. If they are doing something more than going to the park and having a good time, then I might have a problem with that. I don't think they'd get away with having a picket line at the main gate though so I'm not sure what you mean by protesting...

For completely unrelated reasons, that happens to be the weekend that my family goes to CP every year (it's a custody thing, and I always know that I'll have my daughter on Father's Day no matter how the weeks fall).
Yep, there's a whole bunch of gays there. Some of them are even entertaining to watch (like the 6'2" bearded guy in a red dress a couple of years back).
I will continue to go on Father's Day regardless. Call it my "anti-protest" of what you call their protest. I'm all for fatherhood! (and the annual RGFDM)

I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.
first of all, in regards to the 'protest' aspect--i'd like a link or something to back that up...but anyway:
I personally don't see why a specific day is needed for those who happen to be homosexual. I mean, its not like the rides need to run differently for those who are homosexual, or like food needs to be prepared in a certain way. and in this day an age most people (albeit not all, sadly) are completely comfortable with others' sexual preference. I just don't see the point (no pun intended).
I will say this--they should have an "Exhibitionist Day," not a Gay day. Cause I know a lot of homosexuals who regret the fact that Gay days like these associate cross-dressing, tight leather-wearing, etc, with all homosexuals, which obviously isn't true.
I'm not saying I have a problem with Gay day, I just dont see a point to it in a time where homosexuality is accepted by most people. And I think "Gay Day" can do harm by perpetuating stereotypes held by the ignorant.
But having said all that, I say good for them!

"there are going to be little kids there and its just no right"
So...make our nation's youth even more unprepared for the real world by closing an amusement park for this type of event just because there's homosexuals walking around? Yep, makes perfect sense. As stated above, a large portion of Cedar Point's employees are gay, and Father's day isn't the only day gay people come to the park, why they're there EVERY day, as are little kids, so by that logic the park should be closed every day since homosexuals and little kids are in the park EVERY DAY.

People different than yourself are all around you. That's what a Great Society like ours is all about.
As for "Larry E. Wasserman," shame on you for spreading Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD).
Not only is such a 'protest' completely ludicrous, but did it ever occur to you that there are a great many gay mothers and fathers, and they certainly wouldn't like to see such a protest either?
Yea lets hide our kids away from homosexuality, but let them see horrible terroist activity and violence on tv, people need to focus on the more important aspects in life sometimes...

Someday's it's just not worth chewing through the restrains.
I am definately going to stay home that day. It bothers me enough to here the way they talk (and yes i know, not all of them talk with a lisp, but most do).
You know, I don't know how to break this to you, but most gay people don't have a lisp. And--guess what? some heterosexuals do have a lisp!!! In fact, most homosexuals look just like you and me (gasp)--you can't tell by the way they act. They're just regular folks who go about their business trying to live their lives, going to movies, malls, and amusement parks whenever they please. They can even touch you and you won't catch their diseases!!!

I'm downright shocked by the lack of respect for human rights by some of you. The world we live in today has bigger problems than someone's sexual preference. How, specifically, will it affect you? Two people holding hands or kissing is between them. It has absolutely nothing to do with you, for you, or about you. (Granted, some people --regardless of sexuality-- go WAY too far with PDA's... there's no accounting for taste.)
There always have been, and always will be gay men and women visiting Cedar Point, and every other amusement park around the globe, every single day of operation. If something about that offends you, start looking at what's wrong with yourself.
Regardless... this forum, if I remember correctly, is for Cedar Point discussion. Not for pathetic, mindless individuals to flaunt their ignorance.
