Gay Day at Cedar Point

What's interesting is that those who are protesting the most also seem to come across as the most immature...how ironic.

Unfortunately, I don't think this issue will ever become dated and laughable, so long as the majority are swayed by baseless stereotypes, we may never see a day of equality and acceptance.

See? I stated my opinion without cussing, caps, or exclamation points.

Hey I could really go for a pizza with extra cheese. Wow that was about at useless as this thread.

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

Is the park really that slow on Fathers Day? Being an unofficial get together day at Cedar Point, I would have thought that the park would be more full. If there are 2 minute waits, I think I will be going to Cedar Point next Father's day. :)

Zach, I think it's trekkie talk. So if you're not a Star Trek fan, don't feel too bad for being confused. ;)

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

I almost went today. But I take it easy on trips in June and July due to crowds and temps. Today looked moderate according to the cams. 7 trips so far is good for me right now. There's still 5 months left.

In regards to the topic at hand, I think whatever makes you happy in life is fine. I mean I practically worship Dragster.....but it makes me happy.:)

Ok, I'm Bi (not that it really matters). Sometimes I go to Gay Day. This year I went to Pride in Columbus.

To me, this is all a non-issue. Let's move on.

I started the thread because I had a thought and wished to share. I had hoped that we could avoid the whole issue of weather Gay Day was "right" or not and just say that it will happen no matter what, and suggest a move.
I figured that the only way to make a move would be for the park to make it "official" since there is no person or persons who organizes it in the first place. I don't even know how it got started?
As for it coming up every year, well it is still a hotly debated topic in today's society so I see nothing wrong with it coming up again, as long as on here it is treated civil and is kept relevant to Cedar Point.

The point is that Cedar Point doesn't want to make it something "official" seeing how they're trying to strive to the family market. And seeing how most families are VERY touchy on the subject, they don't want any serious negative feedback from those families....or individuals, which I've heard they do sometimes when this is seen by certain groups. The parades are the "official" way that this is celebrated, leave it at that. I'm not gay but I know a few gay individuals (all great people), and if they and their friends want to go to CP on a specific day, more power to them.

This thread shows the difference in marketing between the
midwest and NYC area.
Great Adventure has an exclusive GLTB event.
Its on a Friday night in Sept.when the park isn't open to
the public. Its also not available to season pass holders
and requires advance ticket purchase.
Great Adventure also has an annaual Passover Celebration
(its usually on Easter Sunday, which is also Season Pass
holders day).
They used to have a Muslim Pride day,but they got so much
flack, especially after 9/11 they now combine it with
another event.

Come to Great Adventure, where it's cool to be gay or Jewish, as long as you're not Muslim.... ;)

Morte615,

Gay day IS a real, organized, yet technically "unofficial" for most parks PRIDE WEEK event for most major cities. Read my post from page 1 please.

Actually, the problem was, that the Muslim Pride event was held when the park was open to the public. Each year there were a large number of participants wearing shirts that had slogans that were pro terrorist (including praising the 9/11 hijackers),anti American (death to America) or similar comments about Jews.

All right who are the organizer's, and how are the events advertised?

Chipotle sounds good today.

The Pride committee, Morte615. In the LGBT community we have establishments that we frequent. With flyers, magazines, and newspapers geared toward our interests, they advertise Pride events such as gay day at the local amusement park or fundraisers at various bookstores, bars, or coffeehouses. We are also internet savvy, and Pride committees also have websites to advertise Pride events. This all leads up to the last Saturday and Sunday of June. Saturday is usually political day, with speaches from various political celebrity types, and Sunday is PARTY day - the parade and fun stuff, headliner comedian and other entertainment.

Sounds a lot like us gun owners. There's websites with information about gun friendly establishments, each states gun laws, conceal carry, open carry, etc.

Everyone who isn't homophobic should attend at least one Pridefest in their adult life. Both days of the main event in a major city include the vendor area where you can buy some really neat stuff to support your LGBT and LGBT-friendly artists and musicians, get information about all kinds of medical conditions that affect ALL of us, not just us queers, and EAT, EAT, EAT all kinds of both gourmet and junk food.

This may let the cat out of the bag, but yes, it is REALLY that slow on Father's Day. Did not get in line for Maverick, Millie, Mantis, Raptor or TTD since it was our little family of 4 and the smallest was not tall enough to ride most coasters, but the rest of the rides other than Disaster Transport and Wildcat were either walk-ups to the station or flat out walk-ons. Blue Streak, Corkscrew, Magnum, Gemini, Meanstreak, Mine Ride all were walk-ons. Skyhawk was a 1 cycle wait, Matterhorn, Chaos, Ocean Motion, Cedar Downs...walk on's. I could go on but you get the point (no pun intended).
