No trees were harmed in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
I really wish the park would landscape their rides. Do they realize how much better the ride would be with trees planted around the ride? I don't get it. Rides like Kumba, Cheetah Hunt, Wild Eagle all have major trees and foliage around the ride that make it look so much better. I am sure the ride is fun- but it looks like a parking lot coaster.
I'm similarly disappointed in the front gate photos Tony posted. Dirt, scaffolding, construction equipment. Terrible. Take some pride in that gate!

You do know that the ride is located on the beach right?

Too many lolz.
After seeing both POV's, I might have to reconsider which side I will ride first. The right has so many near miss moments with the supports and tracks. Although the left side still looks amazing with the first drop. Guess there is only one way to find out which side is truly better.

What does this even mean? You have no idea just how amazing this ride is going to look. They haven't planted any grass yet because, as of late last week, there were still construction vehicles everywhere. They're not even done planting trees. The GateKeeper plaza looks amazing, as does the front entrance.
Perhaps you should wait until opening day before you start declaring this a landscaping failure.

Disaster Transport and Space Spiral were demolished and laid to rest both during the late part of an operating season and early on in the off-season. GateKeeper took shape in what seems to me an incredible short amount of time despite an unforgiving winter and what I'm sure presented challenges along that cold-as-heck Lake Erie shore.
With that, I'm okay with the grass not yet being green and the "dust and stuff" still settling. The POV looks awesome (both sides) and I am excited about what this coaster is bringing to the park. First time posting, long-time lurker...

That small time frame consisting of demolition of two rides, site clearing, then construction of a new coaster and new main entrance is just as impressive. I'm as excited to walk around the front of the park as riding Gatekeeper itself. Thanks for the great photos and video Tony!

True. Cedar Point should have first built a national forest, and THEN built Gatekeeper within it to add to the charm.
What were they thinking?
Promoter of fog.
No no no no, that wouldn't work! If they built a forest first, then people would be complaining about the trees they would have HAD to take out for Gatekeeper.

Wild Eagle is built in the smoky mountains in Tennessee. Gatekeeper is built on a beach on a peninsula in lake Erie. I really don't expect a ton of trees, when the two locations contrast so much :)
I absolutely loved the POVs. My favorite was the left side just because you can see more. The only thing I'm surprised about was that there was no grass when watching the POVs?
No one will be disappointed with the look of this ride, landscaping around it or the front entrance plaza. Trust me.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
As usual, everyones a critic. Personally I think the ride is awesome. I dont know why anyone was expecting a forest around the whole ride. From what I saw in the POV's, the ride looks amazing and hauls some serious ass which has got me totally psyched!!!
