Game Day Warning

The new Game Day Grill looks great inside. I just wanted to let everyone know, if you eat there, expect to wait a very long time.

We were seated after about a 10min wait, ordered, then waited 45min.(we only ordered salad and soup). There were several tables complaining about waiting long for their food. The table next to us said they had been waiting over an hour. We ended up leaving without our food, and settled for pizza patio instead.

Hopefully the service gets better, because the place is cool. Maybe they just weren't ready for opening day.

We had dinner there last night. Maybe it was just a different time, but our experience was much better. It wasn't fast food, but we thought it was comparable to any other table service restaurant. We were there for about an hour - start to finish.

The food was pretty good. My wife thought it was better than the Silver Dollar food and my son couldn't get enough of his grilled cheese and fries. And finally ... lobster bisque!

I think CP has a real winner with Game Day Grille. When we went in for lunch yesterday, the staff was very attentive and the food was pretty good (not to mention, served very quickly); I was only 2 bites into my fried pickle appetizer when our sandwiches cameout. It'll be a hit for those wanting to take a break. I'm just hope they'll be showing the Steeler's games come football season!

Go Stiller's!

Neil - explain the fried pickle appetizer ... sounds a little strange.

It was rather tasty. Klaussen-type dill pickles (the under-cooked variety that are nice and cruchy; unlike Vlassic) are sliced thick, breaded and fried. Served with ranch dressing with celery and carrots.

Growing up in a family where 3 generations worked for Heinz, I've grown partial to pickles. Which brings up another food issue at the point... I don't quite understand why Friday's and Johnny Rocket's serve Heinz ketchup and everywhere else on the point, they serve Hunt's catsup (yuk!). I know it must be the specs for Friday's and JR's, but aren't they controlled by Cedar Point Foodservice?

Won't clog your arteries as fast as cheese-on-a-stick, and much tastier IMO.

Fried pickle? What do you expect from a Steelers fan? Just kidding!

The hot wings are rather good as well. Amy had the potato skins and did not care for them because they used melted nacho cheese insted of real cheese.

As far as the service, we had no problems with it. We both orderd an appitizer and drinks and were there about 45 min from start to finish.

I really think that this place will be a hit.

It's good to hear that you guys had better luck at Game Day than I did. My visit was opening day at lunch time and it was clear to everyone trying to eat there that something was very wrong in the kitchen.

I can't wait to give the place a second chance. I really want those pickles.

CP has served Hunt's ketchup for decades. I'm surprised that Friday's and Johnny Rocket's has Heinz, they are controlled by CP food service as far as I know.

It hardly matters. Ketchup is ketchup (unless, of course, it's catsup).

But everyone knows that the recipe to Hunt's ketchup is one part water and two parts Heinz! :)

I may be wrong, but for those two, the Franchise comes first. They are run by Cedar Point food service, but they are owned by their respective parent companies and therefore must adhere to the franchise requirements

Franchise restaurants order all of their inventory from one distributor that handles distribution for the entire chain. It is just easier to order everything at once from one distributor. The only time franchise restaurants buy from anyone other than their primary distributor is when Cedar Fair has a promotional contract with another supplier (Pepsi, Toft's, etc.) or when they run out of something before the next order arrives.

Isn't Cedar Point all Heinz now? I think the ketchup pumps outside most food outlets are Heinz. Whenever I've been at the park I've seen GFS trucks in and out of the park. Where I work one of our major distributors is GFS. We have several suppliers because you can't give one company all your business because then the competition is gone. A place like Cedar Point probably has contracts with their foodservice distributors.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that this thread is from almost FIVE years ago?!!?!
