It probably is a piece of Wicked Twister. I very sure that if he was chased after taking that piece of track, that it's of importance to Cedar Point.

Okay... Just to clear my name. I did not take that piece! :)
I noticed the seller lives in the same city as me. Felt a bit like I should defend myself.. lol
[url][url]Well first, this doesn't seem to be a crossmember of the track in any way. the crossmembers are box shaped, this piece is rounded:

Secondly, If the ride had just opened, it is possible that if this is running rail, that it may have not worn the paint off making that stripe...
Third, it doesnt seem that it is running rail because there is no weld marks or anything that would be where it used to be attached to all the crossmembers....but it could be on the underside...
Lastly, I don't think it would be all too safe to cut a section of rail out and then weld a new piece in..
O, and if it was in the sand where there were working, there is no way he could've gotten away with this... I think this is fake...

Yea I was thinking about that. When they weld it they usually just make it stronger, they dont usually put in a new piece.
Also under further review it doesnt seem wide enought for a crossmember. It is about a shoulder width apart.
And like Pyro said what was he doing sitting on Cedar Point beach at 3 AM. It is a fake.
Here's my thought.
It could most likely be a TOP crossmember because of 1.The way the ends are angled.

3.It's the right size and length.
It's definitely not a vertical crossmember because of its size and shape.
It's neither the top nor bottom rails because of size(and no white marking).

During Wicked Twisters 1st season the original rounded cross members were cut out and replaced with the box shaped members that are in place now.

It probably is then.

I looked at that yellow bike part....I am sure that EBAY will shut him down if CP decides to go after him.
Both spikes. Can't say that for a "fact" that "every single one" was replaced, but the project lasted many evenings that summer.
Here's a past thread from that year.

Has this item been reported to Cedar Point Police yet?
If not, I would be more than happy to call or email them to let them know. I just can't find an email address for that department on the site.
Now how stupid can someone be?

I did call CP this morning at 8a.m. talked to security. I waited on hold and the guy came back on and said he "was looking at it right now". So I don't know what will become of it.
I called the 1-800-668-JOBS, hit 0, got the HR department and they transferred me to the security dept.

It's not the right color of yellow and no paint on a roller coaster has ever been that glossy has it? THe paint on the track is more of a semi gloss it not matte finish.
Looks like the seller wised up and stopped the auction. Either that or someone told him to dispose of the item before the CP police come and "shake down" his residence. ;)
edit: clarification

I wonder if CP worked that fast on that item...I saw he pulled it.

OH cheese and rice already. Cedar Point didn't "work that fast on him" I have an Ebay account and told him about it. He took it down and realized his mistake so let's let it go. If Cedar Point wants to go after him still that is their business.
I think he is going to send it back to Cedar Point so give the guy a chance to do right.

Rails, especially Intamin's, have DEFINITELY been that glossy in the past. They quickly fade, but if you look at MF's construction gallery, or TTD's gallery on this very site, you can see the original glossyness of their paint.
