This year, King's Island introduced Fun Perks. When you bought any food, they scanned your pass. You earned points that added up to prizes such as Tours, ERT, Free Food, etc. Since King's Island was the first to do Fast Lane and then that got spread to all the parks, do you think that Fun Perks will be spread to all the parks next year? I hope so!

That sounds like a good idea in theory, however, the question is did this actually generate any additional revenue?

If the FUN PERKS would start at Cedar Point. It would give people more discounts? I go the CASINOS and I get Free Play by putting my Players Card in the machines. Then there is Money in my Players Card, and go the Buffet Free, but that will take some money out of my Players Card. I wish Cedar Point will build a Casino around that area, and they could be more attendance at Cedar Point & Soak City too.
The value of measuring consumer behavior is absolutely huge. Provided you supply some negligible perceived value to the consumer, they'll leave a trail and build a profile of their habits for you. On an individual level, you gain opportunities to market to them efficiently, but on a macro level, you start to understand where your biggest opportunities are, and where you're blowing it.

Given the choice between the two, I'd absolutely vote to keep the awesome food deals the passes offered this year. That being said, I don't know why it would have to be an either/or proposition. I say bring on the perks and the discounts. :)
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

We're from Toledo, and took two trips to KI this summer. The first for 3 days during the week. We signed up for FunPerks at that time. A few weeks later, we took a weekend-end of summer-trip. We had 2 $25 vouchers for FastLane via Funperks, so I bought 2 more so we could all have them.
So, at least for me, I bought FastLane because of the discount. By the way, that Saturday was packed, but we waited no more than 1 cycle for anything.
If you go over to KICentral forums there are lots of accounts of people getting free fastlane passes for their rewards. Sounds cool to me. While I love the fresh cut fries deal, I'm often not in a position to get the value out of it (ie nobody to eat the other tray of fries or extra drink). I think I'd rather have the FunPerks program.

Did you find yourself purchasing more food or merchandise to obtain more points?

I think Fun Perks is a great idea as it will build extra value in all your purchases. I go to Giant Eagle a lot even though there is a closer super market of equal quality mainly to build up fuel perks. I would be very cool if CP purchases did the same thing, especially if they extend it to purchases outside of the park. I buy a fair amount of fuel at the marina, that would really build up my Fun Perks quickly!
I like the passholder food discounts this year as well. My favorite one is the Coasters deal. Pretty good burger, fries and a drink for not much more than a similar value meal from McDonald's or Wendy's.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
