i read a different story about the haunted carousel on this site http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/jeffharp/Frontiertown.htm

The old Frontiertown Carousel was known to the employees as the Haunted Carousel. A few years ago, this carousel was moved to Dorney Park in Pennsylvania, another Cedar Fair park. The ghost story relating to this carousel was on Ripley's Believe It or Not, so clearly it must be true!
There are actually multiple versions of this story, but I'm going to tell one of the more interesting versions. As the story goes, when the ride was being built, around the turn of the century, the builder murdered his wife. He put her remains inside one of the horses. Only one horse on the ride has any weaponry painted on it. It is that horse that contains the corpse. It is said that every midnight of a full moon, the wife comes back to ride on her horse. The carousel mysteriously begins running, with her apparition seen riding the horse.
Ah, but the tale does not end there. There have been times when the park was open at midnight when there was a full moon. It seems that the ghost does not like this situation! First, it should be stated that the horse is located on the outside ring of the carousel. The outer horses do not move up and down. As midnight approaches, riders have claimed that the horse has started to move. I, in fact, was riding the carousel with some friends about an hour before midnight. One of my friends rode on the spirited horse, while I rode on the horse next to her. She claimed that she could feel the horse move up and down, and, I must admit, it looked to me like she was moving! When midnight gets closer, the ghost gets more aggressive. There have been cases where a person has left the ride with a horse bite on the leg. Ooh, eerie!

There have been times when the ghost became a bit playful. There was one work crew shared between the Wave Swinger and Frontiertown Carousel. One night, the crew was getting ready to go home. One of the girls went to the carousel to turn off the lights, while the others waited near the Wave Swinger. After about five minutes, they began to get concerned. The girl had not returned, and the ride's lights were still on. They went to investigate, and discovered that the girl had gotten locked into the room in the center of the carousel, so they needed to let her out. Of course, the room is only supposed to lock from the inside in order to keep people out, so the unanswered question remains, how did she get locked in? To this day, no one knows why she was unable to open that door. I have some additional questions, however. When the ride was relocated to Dorney Park, did the ghost follow? Or is she still roaming around Cedar Point, looking for her carousel?

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Sames like we're talking about the same horse. Does anybody know if there is a horse in storage anywhere in CP?

I'd guess they'd take all the horses with the carousel to Dorney Park. Odd story, a little out there though.

The horse in question, the "military style" that was a favorite of Dentzel carver Daniel Mueller, was removed from the ride in the late 1980's and replaced by an exact replica carved by local artist Joe Leonard. The original horse was put on display in the Town Hall museum. When the ride was moved to Dorney the replica went with it and the original stayed in Sandusky. If it's not at the Point it's probably on display at the MGR Museum downtown.

The story says its somewhere on point. Probalby in the backroom forgotten.

Dutchman is right, the horse is on display in Town Hall.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

i read somewhere else that the horse is on display in a museum somewhere, and the horse at CP is a replica..

I'll try to find the page i read that on.

I read this on the same site. There seems to be other ghosts of CP or "scary" rumours spread throughout the midways (i.e. girl jumped off of Giant Wheel, etc.)

I stand corrected.

Sounds creepy. I bet there are so many stories out there, stories the employees might tell to try and scare eachother. Well, at least that's what I like to think.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

There is another story that I cant quite remember about the old end of the hotel breakers up on like the very top floor where the balcony is or something, I dont quite remember but maybe somebody around here does.

i have looked at the horse in question many times at town hall museum. i don't know if it's the original or a copy but the horse does have an evil look to it. gosh, this ghost story garbage is good stuff.

It and the armoured horse off the Kiddie Kingdom machine were removed and replaced with replicas when they were chosen for use on the postage stamps.

Who would use ghost horses as stamps. Stupid people, now all the stamps are haunted. ;)

That's the US Postal Service for you................

The Haunted horse is not the one on the stamp. It is the middle one in the display at CP that is on the stamp. The haunted horse is the one on the rigfht of the three. I have done a great deal of research on the subject over the last 6 or so years. Next summer, go in to town hall, and talk to Joe. He as an older gentleman that works during the day M-F. he has a 3 page article (photocopied) that tells different scenarios about the horse. I have a JPG copy of it here somewhere on CD as I cleaned it off my hard drive. When I find it, I will post it on the web, and link to it from here. A few years ago, they had a replica of the horse over by the petting farm in Frontiertown. The original stayed put. I have pics of it too, somewhere.

I found some information regarding the Hotel Breakers ghostly issue...

As an employee who worked in Town Hall this past summer and read all the books in there...the horse is in town hall. The horse was only haunted while on the Caroursel and that is the orignal horse. I have closed Town Hall many times this past summer and I have never seen anything unuasal with the horse. It is a beautiful horse, the detail is amazing on it.

wow....um....sounds like a fun job....working in the Town Hall museum...
