From how far away have you seen this monster?

Just thought it would be a "lighter thread" to see who has actually seen #16 from the corner of their eye from any given spot. I personally have been on the ohio turnpike recently and I admit seeing it from the turnpike near the route 250 exit. you have to look but you can see MF, PT, and now #16 way bigger then the both of them. so those who thing it is only 330. NO IT IS NOT! It is huge. I also saw it on a flight to chicago 2 weeks ago. :) that is kinda cheating though. I am not sure on how far the turnpike is from cp pennisula though. its gotta be 10 miles at the least.. let me know what ya know..

Just the track, the wind, and the speed.

I saw it around the end of November from Rte 2 and that thing is HUGE!!! Amazing...

'02 Trips to CP:31 (never enough)

I think CP is about 12-15 miles from the turnpike at 250's exit. I've seen it from the turnpike, plus I've been up to the Battery Park Marina 4 times so far this off season. It's really amazing to see it compared with everything else. Funny thing is, Mantis now looks like nothing with Power Tower, Millennium Force and #16 surrounding it. Then I have to remind myself that it does have a 119ft. vertical loop!

Well, I can see it from my deck on Marblehead, which (by the crow flies is about 2 miles) But I have seen it from the hill on Rt. 2 just as Rt. 6 comes into 2, right after The Huron River, right by Lear. There are also a couple other spots along 2 where you can see it, along with most of the higher rides (MF, PT, Space Spiral).

I also have seen it from the turnpike and Rt. 250. I've seen it from the Battery Park Marina but that was before it was completed about a week ago so I'm anxious to go back and check it out.

You guys are lucky that you live close enough to see it!!! Living down near Columbus sucks! Working in Columbus sucks even more! Maybe I should get a job in Sandusky. :)

Did you hear that UPS and FED EX are merging into one company? You know what there going to be called???? FED UP!!!!! ;)

Now why you gotta go and dog on Columbus, huh Kel? :)

Trust me, working/living near Columbus sure beats doing the same in Sandusky.

(Reaches into closet, pulls out flame suit, begins puting it on...)

You live in Columbus?! You're better off than me! I live in Cincinnatti, OH and when I visit the point I have to make a big plans for a 5 day stay.

Oh yeah, if there's bugs on your shirt, you had a good ride.

Thank you Jeff for your work to make and run this site!

Okay!!! maybe living in Columbus isn't that bad...but I would still rather live in Sandusky, so I can see this thing in person everyday!

Since it is right off of Lake Erie I wonder if I can see it from Buffalo... ;)

I wonder when they will put 2 trains on the Boomerang...

To really apreciate this thing, you have to see it from the park, or very close like the parking lot. I went out there the other day, and the guard at the gate doesn't care as long as you turn around in the parking lot. The webcams don't do it justice, this thing is huge.

Enjoy your ride on the Big Bad Bug

just wanted you to know the Mantis is way higher than 119

If you build it, they will come!

That post was talking about the height of the loop, as it clearly states.

Thanks Probie.

Did you also know that Mantis' track gauge is 1200mm rail to rail? ;)

I've seen it from Battery Park (same place Walt has been taking the pics lately). I saw it on Dec. 7th after the ACE X-mas party and as soon as that thing came into sight....Holy ####!!!!! It's huge!!! Just seeing it tower over Millennium Force just doesn't make the off-season any easier. That's the closest I've seen it other than at the park during the season. But even then (oct 13) when I was at the park and it was probably only about 180-200ft tall, it just seemed huge!

138 days. I can't wait.

You guys are coplaining about living in Columbus and Cincinnatti. I live in Albany, NY. There's no chance I'll get see this thing until the summer, when I take my trip to CP.
Kel is right though, in my opinion, COWlumbus does suck! :) I am thankful though that the point is only 1.5 hours away.
