Fright Zone (why not Sundays)

As I recall, the Fright Zone doesn't open until 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, so it's obvious why it's not functioning on Sundays when the park closes at 8 p.m.

But....

Why couldn't they open it on the last Sunday of the season (this year, it's Halloween, after all)? With the sun going down sooner because of the time change, it seems they could open it for a couple hours that Sunday. If the time change occurs the week before this year, they could run it that Sunday as well. (Sorry, I don't know when we fall back this year).

The Fright Zone is one of the better features of HalloWeekends, so why not expand it as time allows. Just doesn't seem right that it wouldn't be functioning on the rare occasion that the park is actually open on Halloween.

Just an idear.

We fall back on the early morning of the 31st this year, the actual last day of CP's season.

Probably has to do with the availability of the performers. That's why the park is not open until 10:00 on Sunday nights this time of year....have to get back to campus.

And Sunday's are dead anyway. There aren't enough people who come to the park on Sunday, much less stay late, to make it worth keeping the park open past 8pm. The fright zone will be open this Sunday (at least thats what FUNTimes said) because they are open till 10.

To make the blanket statement that Sunday's are dead, especially closing days, is not correct. I recall 2000 I think was one of the most ridiculous closing days I've ever attended, rivaling a day in July.

Well, that raises an interesting point...for some odd reason unbeknownst to myself the park is open until 10pm this Sunday. So it seems as though they would have fright zone.

I'm sure someone here knows the reason for this (and it's probably something simple I've overlooked) but all it means to me is 2 more hours of work and getting back here even later...2am. Ah well, good thing I love that park ;).

I stand corrected.

I just hope this Saturday is as dead as a Sunday in January...unfortunately, the weather does not seem to be pushing towards this outcome but i can hope the 30% chance of rain causes some precipitation through the general drive time to the park (mid morn to early afternoon) causing people to rethink their plans for coming to the park.

The 10pm close is due to the Columbus Day holiday weekend.

And, according to an Email I received yesterday, the CP Resorts will be open on Sunday night for those wanting to stay until Monday.

Fright Zone will also be open from 7-10 this Sunday. :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

JuggaLotus, I'm afraid you are in for very long lines on Saturday. This weekend for the past couple of years, has been the busiest for Holloweekends. I believe it was this saturday last year that broke some long standing records for attendance not only for holloweekends but for any operating day! Good Luck!

October Whatever Saturday Around the 10th, 2003 had the biggest crowd in 3 years (from info posted here & at CBuzz).

I was there. It was bad. Rode 1 ride on that Saturday (Dragster) and hung out at the pool the rest of the day. The Friday and Sunday of that weekend featured many walk-ons. :)

I don't think I suggested keeping the park open later on all Sundays (although the late close-time for this Sunday is great news). I was floating the idea that after the time change (last day, in this case), they open it at dark (6:30 p.m. or so) and keep it going until close or a little after.

And while Jeff's point is well taken, the others are generally correct: Sundays are slow. And the people on hand enjoying those slow Sundays are generally the true believers. So why not give 'em a little something special?

I remember that day last year, MrScott. I think all we did was TRY to walk around during the day, and when it got dark, we people watched in the Fright Zone. Glad I had a season pass, or I would have been really mad!
