Freeway question

Are there a limited number of Freeway passes given out? If so then how do they do it? Do they start giving out passes when the park opens and give them out untill they are gone or do they do so many per hour throughout the day? I have never used this system before and would appreciate and info. Thanks.
You might want to check out Cedar Point's official website or use the search feature on this website.
They generally hand out 10% of the ride's hourly capacity. The actual capacity of the ride may vary depending upon how fast they get the trains out, so they will probably go with the projected 1500 an hour and hand out 150 stamps for each hour. I believe they start giving them out at 11:00 am.

Well, here are some Freeway questions that I haven't seen answered.

Okay. We've got 10% capacity. And I imagine that if they start handing them out at 11am that the the return times aren't until at least noon. On a 10pm close you're talking 1500 Freeway passes for TTD.

Well, if I get to the park and everyone's hauling to TTD at the open and it's a 2 hour wait at 10-ish, I'm no dummy. I'll just stand in the Freeway line for less than an hour. Others will be doing the same thing. I can't see 3000-4000 people standing in line for 2-3 hours when they know Freeway passes are about to be handed out, so they'll head out to the Freeway distribution line too. Right? Is that what usually happens?

And, if so, Freeway passes will be gone pretty much right away. So does this mean that with folks ducking out of the regular line to grab a Freeway pass that the wait for TTD might be the shortest at 11am?

Last year was different in that Wicked Twister was the new ride but MF was still the ride to run to, yet there were still folks heading out to two different parts of the park. This year it's going to be a TTD stampede at the open.

Anyone sample how Freeway is working this season? When did the TTD passes run out (if they have started already).

Actually the hour they start handing them out is the hour they are good for. So really if a whole lot of people are at the ride before you just get in line for a stamp and you might be one of the first 150 to bypass the long wait.

On opening day, there was no freeway. Does anybody know when Dragster's freeway will start being offered? I haven't been up there since OD.

Thanks

raptorgrl,

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm going to the park tomorrow, so I'll fill you in when I return.

People can be dumb, and would rather wait in line then wait for a pass. So both lines will be long.

even if you get a freeway pass you still have about 2 hours to wait in line. i have not seen freeway passes for ttd yet. i went on 5/10 and none were being given out the whole day
I wasn't asking because I think that a Freeway pass means I'll get onto Dragster faster (although I certainly wouldn't complain about that). I was simply curious whether or not CP had started Freeway now that Dragster seems to be running better.

Rider, haven't you ever just wondered something and looked for an answer?? 'Twas all I was doing. I will wait however long I have to for Dragster if I really want to ride it, heaven knows I did on Opening Day.

Ohhh, bad day? Take a different perspective on things. Try upside down, a barrel roll, a cobra roll or corkscrew. Life can't be all that bad when your feet are over your head!

I was at the park on 5/14 and they were not using the Freeway on TTD. I asked a RideOp about this and she said that they'll start to use Freeway once the ride was running more consistently and the capacity was up. She said right now they're only running around 500-600 people per hour, compared to their target of 1500.

Thanks Jazzman, it makes sense.

A point about Freeway that I never considered until my last visit on May 16th: I saw two examples of people that had Freeway stamps for other rides that never got cancelled out because they were in a long line for Dragster, and thus missed their allotted time slot. If your Freeway stamp has an early time slot on it, you may want to avoid getting into a 3-4 hour line for Dragster. And with all the down time Dragster seems to have on a regular basis, I'm sure the wait can become even longer.
They were not using freeway on 5-15 either. I figured they would start using it this weekend or after Memorial Day. We were also aloud to choose where we sit, but I figure they will quit doing that at the same time.
Yes theres only two per person
Are they using Freeway as of Thursday. I'm going 5/23 and it would be nice to have a 5-10 minute wait.

CP Coaster Guide

I know that they weren't on tues or wed. I am not sure if this was because it opened at about 3 on tues and after I left on wed(left at about 1:30 because of long lines *HANDICAP DAY*) or not, but expect dragster to start running later in the day.
I was told that they arent going to start using freeway on it until after memorial weekend. I was also told that they give out 100 stamps out for every hour and you have to get a stamp between 11 and 4.
