Forum improvements: Topic preview

If you look in the list of forum topics, you'll notice a small link ">>" next to every title. If you click on that, the row will slide open and show you the first post in that topic, so you can actually preview it before spending all that time looking at more of it.

There are a couple of minor performance improvements you won't likely notice.

And just a reminder, if you're logged in and see the lighter colored icon next to a topic, clicking on it will take you to the newest post you haven't read.

It doesn't seem to be working in Firefox.

I'm looking at it in Firefox... you might need to restart it in case it's caching the scripts and style sheets.

Very cool, should make checking the site much faster.

Is this supposed to work under the recent topics link or not? I could get it to work by clicking on the individual categories like general and news but not under recent topics.

I've got a few other tweaks I'll be deploying in a little while, and that will be one of them.

A quick refresh (no restart) of the page fixed it....looks good.

Suggestion: Maybe make the text size for the >> smaller than the topic title text. When I first saw it I thought a bunch of people had just typed >> on the end of the topic titles.

In case it wasn't noticed, previews for the News forum are all empty since the first post is special there. Not sure if you can toggle which forums show previews or not. It's really not a big deal though.

I did notice. Don't have a game plan for that just yet.

You can't ride a piece of software Jeff. Although I do believe I've been taken for a ride with some software over the years.
