I seem to remember when I was a kid (mid 70's) that we were able to go up into the top of Fort Sandusky.
I dont have a VHS player to confirm right now, but I swear my parents have a video (converted 10mm) of me and my siblings waving our hands at them (we were too short to see our faces) from the top floor of Fort Sandusky
Anyone remember if you were able to go up to the second floor and look out?
Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point
You were allowed to. I have seen pictures with people up there. I don't know, however, why you can't any longer.

Is fort sandusky now the leather shop?
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
It encloses the Leather Shop and The Tannery.

I remember going up there as a kid too in the 70's. I loved frontier town and still do, though today it isn't what it was when I loved it the most. I know times change, interests change, yada yada yada...
Speaking of Fort Sandusky, is the big rock sitting outside it new this year or was that there before? I saw it on opening day and could've sworn it was new but someone told me that it wasn't.

No, I think it's been there a while.

The rock has always been there as far as I know (been going since 1979). I can remember going all the way to the top. A visit to the 2nd floor was always in order (didn't there used to be little play guns up there too?), but a trip to the top up that ladder was something that required courage.
From what I've heard, which is probably no more than rumor, some young kid climbed up there and was goofing off and fell. He was completely unsupervised but the parents sued the park so they removed access. While I'm completely unsure if this is true, it sounds plausible enough.
Ive always thought it would be cool if they could put a playground of some sort back in Frontier Town. There are shops back there to attract the older crowd, and the pet farm and such for kids, but I think putting a "western-themed" playground or kids area back there would really make it even more family friendly, as well as not detract from the atmosphere of that part of the park.

The second floor in the fort serves as the "control tower" for the Fright Zone during Halloweekends. They have a pretty good view of most of the zone from up there.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
You definitely used to be able to go to the 2nd floor. Great views of the train from there. Also a very quiet place to indulge in recreational materials of varying kinds. I have always wondered if that was the real reason it was closed.

I agree and think about this everytime I go to Frontier Town. How sad that it was ever taken down. Yes, I know, there were reasons and...but some of us remember the days of taking the lifts to the back of the park.
