Forced Seating

First I'd like to point out that I have no real beef with the assigned seating policy as a whole, but there is one part that gets on my nerves. I will use a case study.

Lets say a group of three, say A father and two children who are ready for their first lap on the Force are ready to go in seats 9-1 and 9-2. However there is another group of three up near the front, so one of the children from the group in the back will be forced away from his father to ride with complete strangers. Now I may have used a somewhat emotional study, but going by the books it should not matter if its a Parents and Children going for their first ride, or a group of teenage friends.

If running right, the Force will have a great capacity no mater if there are 2 single seats for a couple of laps. If the capacity goes down from 1350 PPH to 1300 PPH so what? I want proof if its even that because if sending a train out every 2 minutes with no problems, the most they will ever loose is 60 PPH. At 50 even,That will make an hour line wait a hole 57 seconds longer! [/ point making]

I know CP is big on the capacity issue but sometimes you have to lighten up a little.

Disclaimer to Crew if reading this - I know you guys are just doing your job by following this rule. Considering everything, you guys and gals do one hell of a job :).

I generally have sene them keep 'families' together if the parents ask. THey will look behind the family for riders.. Saw it happen a few times Sunda and Monday...

My last ride on Sunday, there was a group of 5 people that wanted to ride together. My father and I were next in line, and they actually pulled 3 pairs of double riders up since the seats remaining were not together. I was actually pretty upset because I would have sat in the front seat for the first time, but I understand the reasoning. Just wish it would have happened sometime when I wouldn't have been first.

Nice to see they are at least trying to keep the families together.

Still I don't see why it would be so hard to keep friends together too!

Ucsigep, I was stuck in a similar situation on Sunday too. I was with my friend(majin heero) and his brother, so there was three of us, and the train was pretty full. If we sat together we would have gotten front row, on the next train, but I had to sit towards the front with a complete stranger.

Ok, I see that most of you don't have a problem with this, but I really do. I suppose that to a lot of you, you have many chances to ride MF, and will be able to, by chance, ride in every seat simply because you have accessiblity to it. I live six hours away, in Indianapolis, and I onl get to go to CP once a year :-( and it is only for a couple days. I love every coaster there, and want to ride them all. Therefore, I can not ride a single coaster more than thrice, if the line is more than an hour or so. That leaves me out of luck on MF to do the ritualistic riding-of-the-new-coaster-in-the-front-seat-at-night ceremony. I waited three hours unawair of this policy, and got to the station, and heard it. I was quite unhappy, and never got to ride in the front :-(. Of course, when I got off, I was ok, seeing as I had just ridden the best coaster on the planet, I just wanted the front seat!!!

I see what you mean, Scotty. I was getting very frustrated on Sunday, because I was REALLY hoping for the front seat, or if not then the back seat or 5-1. But as luck would have it, I was one of the last ones let in each time, and had to settle for like the 7th car. There is no bad seat on MF, but there are better ones. And I was really hoping to get one of the better ones, but it would not happen.

Actually Disneypoint, there are signs on the fences through the queue area that say there is a seating policy. I also believe that it is on the sign at the front of the enterance.. I'll check tomorrow..

I haven't ridden MF yet this year. But,from what I've heard, the ride-ops are doing a better job this year with working with people. Early last year had some nasty ops!

ok, this is coming right from a Millennium Force crew member this year! First and for most to all of those who don't like it think of it this way. If everyone in the park wanted to wait for the front seat you would all be waiting forever. We allowed CP employees on Ride night to pick there seats and it just did not work, the park knows this and this is why the policy stays the same. In the matter of splitting up familys, we as a crew this year will not do this except when we are getting slammed for the entire day, our crew is one of the best and hardest working crews in the park and we love all of you who come to see us. My best advice to all of you who have never ridden the front seat, Intamin AG designed this ride around the 5th car and this is the best place to ride hands down. Also this week has been pretty slow with walk-ons and less then 1/2 hour wait, come and see us this week and your chances of grabbing the front seat are better then ever. Can't wait to see all of you this year on the big, bad and bueatiful Millennium Force.

I just knew this was going to turn into one of those assigned seating as a whole policy thread. I just have a little problem with the one aspect of it that's all! I'm glad to here the crew has lightened up on the policy and are allowing peeps to stay together.

Hey Ben, I was there Tuesday for ten laps and I probably saw you. Some guy was giving an op a hard time during a breakdown because people were leaving the line and he was slated for the front. The op stated CP policy and he was only doing his job and that the front was overrated and car 5 was the best. I jumped in and said YEAH. CAR 5! I was wearing a blue Magnum Shirt (got picked on by some of the crew for wearing that :)) and I got car 5 for 4 out of my 10 trips. I think the stuborn guy the op was talking to ended up getting the front anyway. Fool, he did not get CAR 5!

Car 5? Sounds Good Man.

I've seen some crazy stuff in my time, but that... was... AWESOME!!! But, sorry about your car, man, that sucks.
Disneypoint, I understand your frustration. I'm in Cincinnati, and I only get to the Point 3 or 4 times a year. The closest to the front I got was 2nd seat. Yeah, the stadium seating was great, but I wanted an unobstructed view of that drop. Anyways, I don't get too upset, I just think of how many people out there don't get to ride MF at all. (boy, that sounds cheesy, doesn't it?)

So actually, it's more like assigned trains than assigned seats, correct? While you might not be able to just flat out wait for the front, you can pick whatever seats available for that particular train.
Correct....

MF 2001 - Tell ya when I hit triple digits....
Only thing about sitting single with a complete stranger is that sometimes you end up making a friend. People are in such a good mood to be riding such an awesome coaster that they'll just talk and talk away. Met a cool guy my second ride on Wed. So, it's not all bad...

hey, well say u want front seat, maybe this would be good, let people go ahead of you so when you get in you could get the front seat,if thats even possible.just adding my 2 cents(can i have my change now?-lol)

gotta get to the point!
I've done that before. But that was because I saw that they needed 4 more people, and there was a group of 4 behind us. I didn't think they wanted to be split up. I asked if they wanted to go ahead of us and they said yes.
Well, I had a bad experience with this the other day. I was a single rider and wanted to try out the back seat. Instead of moving the single rider in the middle of the train to my seat, they made me move to his seat!!!! I was so mad I didn't get to ride it in the back!!!!
