Food, drinks, fastpass, etc... the details

Okay, I've settled on Thursday May 14th. Works out well for me planning the rest of the trip. I'm going to hold off on buying the fast pass right now, thinking that may be a pretty light day and I can likely buy it at the gate if I think I need to. Can I go back to the front after I've entered the park and buy it later in the day if I see that I need to? How soon will they sell out? Should I just buy it now?

I plan to arrive at the park before it opens and don't intend to leave until they shoo me out the door. I'm betting the all-day dining thing is actually worth it in this case, but I want to ask the assembled wisdom.

I'm hoping I can bring an empty water bottle into the park and fill it at water fountains; is this a reasonable plan?

I'm not a souvenir person so my entire budget for the day is going on the park and food (and parking, apparently). Anything else I should be aware of that may help me cram the most in to a hopefully beautiful day in May?

Thanks!

Fast Lane can be purchased at many of the shop locations around the park, anytime during the day. They very very rarely ever sell out and I would say they have never sold out in the month of may. There have been cases where the locations closest to the main gate have sold out, but areas toward the back of the park were still selling them. Don't sweat it.

All day meal deal - considering that most "meals" in the park cost about $15 this becomes a no brainer for you in your case. A meal every 90 minutes? Enjoy that.

Refilling a water bottle is not a problem and they will let you carry them into the park. You can get free water at any stand that sells fountain drinks, so while I usually enter the park with a bottle of water, I will ditch it at some point and drink free water in small cups. Just ask for 2 at a time - that is what I do.

Additional tip - If you plan on getting to the park before it opens, stick to the far left parking booth and tell the attendant that you want to go the Soak City parking lot. They will direct you to the perimeter road. Take that all the way to the soak city lot and enter the park at the Resort Gate. You can still purchase your tickets/meal deal at that gate, but it puts you towards the back of the park which is where most people suggest you start your day.

Tip 2 - pack rain gear - leave it in the car until you need it.

No souvenirs? Really? Pack an extra $30 and get a cool shirt or something functional that you can wear to remember your trip by.

Nobody should be parking in the Soak City lot unless they are going to Soak City or are staying at hotel Breakers. I've stayed at the hotel in the past and had a hard time finding a parking space because people are parking back in there when they shouldn't be.

Seriously? Hotel Breakers has their own lot and the Soak City lot is open to the public. I'll park where I want to, but thanks.

Exactly - not even you should be parking in the SC lot if you're staying at Breakers. The resorts all have their own adequate parking, and in fact it's a safe bet that Breakers has more-than-adequate parking this year, considering they've removed a sizable part of the hotel.

I have been parking in the SC lot for many years, and I can't recall ever not being able to find a spot back there. I'm sure on the busiest days it gets full, but that's also true of the main lot.
