Floor Mat?

I haven't seen any topics about this, and if there is one, I'm sorry.

After riding WT opening day we noticed that there is a new soft cushy rubberish floor under the train's loading/unloading area. It seems to add about an inch or so from the concrete floor. Do you think that the purpose of this new floor is for a non-slip surface, or so soften peoples impact from when they jump off of the train in bare feet or socks?

i think it is to soften the jump down from the train... i know that it really did help my feet (i ride in my socks).. so that was a great addition, WT could do with out the supports, but thats for structure and support, not looks, i can live with it...

I noticed the floor mat as well and didn't remember it from last year. I think it helps prevent slipping both getting in and out of the trains. Being short, it's nice to have a better grip for my feet when trying to manuever in and out of the trains.

I would say to soften the floor. In flat boat shoes I found it hurt my feet a little to jump out.

Such a small, almost insignificant detail, and yet they thought to do that. Yet another example of how Cedar Point "gets it."

i think it is to soften your impact when you jump down bare footed or in your socks (as i do that, and it didnt hurt at all).

Yeah, I noticed that little mat there. I remember jumping down once last year and then always making sure I'd slowly lower myself down after that.

That little mat is really forgiving when you step on it, I like :)

I noticed that too. And because of it, I rode shoeless.

Actually, my bet it was done for saftey/libility reasons

I agree with Shankomatic on the safety/liability reasons. I twisted my knee last September or October jumping down out of the seat, since there was nothing but cement underneath me. Opening day, I didn't have any trouble when I jumped (ok, slid) down out of my seat.

I like the foam on the back of the seats too. If I get a bit too much leverage getting out, I don't smack into the back of the seat infront of me.

My need for speed is second only to my need to be inverted! No wonder Raptor is my favorite!

I love the new foam mat on WT, it needs to be put on all the concrete in Cedar Point! ;)
