The one ride that Kennywood has that I wished CP would have is the whip. It's a simple design, but a classic ride.

It would be so nice to see a ride like Chaos come back
I might be missing something, but if memory serves me right, one season they just totally took it out and replaced it with a 3 point challenge without any warning. Was there ever a reasoning behind the removal? With many other rides they interfere with future plans but I do not believe that Chaos was ever in the way.
Given that Chaos models at other parks had been disappearing rapidly after several epic failures, I don't think it's any surprise that Chaos departed without any fanfare.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Monster will probably never have a computerized system, and frankly hope it never does, it's one of the fully manual rides I like. It can load quickly if done right & good crew. However if the queue gets stacked doing full loaded or four arm loads are a pain. If I can get the queue to use one or two arms, it's perfect, but mid day that almost never happens. It's never been or will be a high capacity ride, but at least it is an old fun ride, especially to work. Man I miss working that and witches wheel with the '11 crew, lots of good memories from it, especially unrully guests :D

It was fun when it first came out in 98. But after having it's operations completely neutered the last few years of it's life it just wasn't fun to ride. You spent 4-5 times as long loading and unloading as you did riding the ride thanks to the manual release and single op staffing.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Also the catching fire or breaking down kinda neutered it too...Take a chance with a chance ride :P
Never again haha

Computerized Monster would make the cycle even longer, just like the computerized braking did to Mine Ride, Gemini, Corkscrew, etc.

I think the big issue at CP is not the lack of flat rides -- they have a good selection of them -- but the lack of "unique" flat rides anymore....with the removal of Space SPiral, and the Paddlewheels, and both Earthquake and the Pirate Ride, and the Fun House, and White Water Landing, and the giant slide, etc etc etc they have yearly removed more and more of what made the old CP unique and they have replaced them with coasters instead without matching the flat-ride/family attraction quotient...
The CP of my youth(1975-1984) is my favorite amusement park bar none. I travel to other parks today to try to get similar experiences of those days. It's angered me over the years that they have gotten rid of most of my favorite attractions, but I still consider CP my home park and have come to a level of acceptance with hope for the future.
Anyway it seems I'm not the only one who aches for something different. I wonder if there is enough of us to make it worthwhile for CP to add something new along those lines?
Hey, you must be my age if "68" is any indicator. That was my youth, too. Being from central Ohio, we had an annual trip to Cedar Point and Kings Island but Cedar Point was my favorite because it had such a wide variety of experiences.
Some things can't be replicated now. The Western Cruise can't work because there's too many coasters surrounding the waterway that takes away from the immersion in the atmosphere. Do you remember how Frontier Trail was with a blacksmith and other things? Why'd they close that tower fort down?
I think a lot of those things shut down because of the amount of coasters in recent years. It's not that nobody wouldn't want to see or ride that stuff, it's that there is NO TIME when there are so many coasters to ride. I'm not saying I don't appreciate the many great coasters, but those are the types of things that draws families with small children. But I enjoyed them as a teen and young adult all the while loving roller coasters but back then there wasn't as many coasters either and Gemini was the tops.
But the park is really looking like a concrete and steel jungle. Strategically planted trees would be nice.
The least they could do is bring back a dark ride. I don't think that would take up much of a footprint. The buildings that housed the two are still there.
I have no desire to go look at dinosaurs, and neither do my boys, let alone pay extra for it. I don't know how popular it is but the concept seems out of place for me, too.
As far as water rides, I don't nor never did when younger ever want to be drenched. That is some of the foulest, stickiest, and stinkiest water. Yuck! Just feel uncomfortable and gross rest of the day. Some sprinkles is cooling enough.
What is going on in the old cinema?

HA HA. I don't know....but my best friend and I have made up a story to explain why...which I dare not print.
Anyways, yes born in 1968 and I agree with everything you say. I'll still ride water rides though.
Went to CP for the electrician's picnic annually while a kid. Hit Kings Island a few times back then. I remember KI in the early 70s when the Banana Splits were there. Drooper patted me on the head and he had body odor. I guess anybody would being in a costume in the hot sun!!

I'll take Kennywood's Bayern Kurve. I used to love CP's as a kid. Going to check out the Kangaroo and Turtle there also this summer. CP used to have similar rides called the Flying Coaster and Tumblebug. CP needs some of these flats again especially in that empty plot of land next to Ocean Motion and behind the Main Coliseum/Arcade.

I don't remember the Banana Splits. Then again, I was a kid that avoided the people in costumes, felt too "babyish", ha! I remember Hanna-Barbera land and always liked the Enchanted Voyage.
The worst thing Cedar Fair can do to Kings Island is start hacking into the trees around The Beast. Although Cedar Point was my favorite park between the two, The Beast has always been my favorite roller coaster and its length and surrounding woods is probably the biggest part of that. They drained a large pond to put in Diamond Back. I haven't ridden it yet, they shrunk the former pond into a splash down at the end of the ride. Kind of cool, but water and trees add a lot to a park's atmosphere and is easy on the eyes and feels restful, too. I think some years back a tragedy occurred when a guy fell in the former pond and there was an unknown electrical current.
Wish something could be done to make the most of Cedar Point's remaining water ways inside the park. I have no idea what but something besides dinosaurs. From what I understand much of it had been filled in already over the years and of course, there's rides overlapping most of it.
So what's your and your friend's theory on why the fort closed? Must be a funny one!

I have not been to KI nor ridden the Beast since 1984. I plan on going again soon. If I upgrade to the CF platinum pass next season I'll go. I was there both years in the early 80s when they had the Bat. On one of those trips we were waiting in line for the Beast in the evening and my uncle had the whole cue going chanting BEAST!! BEAST!! BEAST!! and then screaming ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! every time a train left the station. It was pretty funny. Overall, though, I like CP alot better than KI back in those days.
Can't say what the Fort story is. Don't want to get in trouble with the mods!!
Spill the beans :)
You're going to have to come out with the fort story at some point now :)

HA!! No can do.
At 44, my buddy and I have a very juvenile sense of humor which my girlfriend constantly reminds me. So gotta be careful what I say.

We're going this summer as we have the platinum, I haven't been there in some years and there are two new coasters I haven't ridden yet, Diamond Back and Firehawk. Flight of Fear is pretty cool, kind of like a space mountain, Flight Deck is a better version of iron dragon.
It's great when the crowd builds an energy for the night rides. It's like a whole different ride from the daytime.
Well, I would venture to guess your fort story is a little risque, huh?

Not risque, more scatological in nature. Put 2 and 2 together.
I've heard good things about the Diamond Back.
I'm interested in Adventure Express and, even though it's a kiddie ride, Boo Blasters.
I will back off on your story. ;)
Adventure Express- pretty cool, kind of like the mine ride with theming, the ending is fantastic- Psych! You'll see what I mean!

My buddy has a Platinum Pass, it's bring a friend day this Sunday at KI for $10. He can't do it. I'll wait til I upgrade next year. I'm hitting Knoebels next Wednesday anyway and Dollywood next month with the gf and kids. I'll probably take a solo trip to CP next Monday or Tuesday after I go fishing. Got alot planned so it can wait.
Sounds like a good time! BTW, I was being sarcastic about the fantastic ending and serious when I said Psych! But I'm sure you've seen the POV videos on it anyway to know what I'm saying. At the very least, they should have put that stuff on the first lift hill.
