Wow, you guys are really overthinking this.

B&M flyers rule the earth, or at least everyelse but hear in Ohio :(
Hear what in Ohio? I hear things here all the time.
Recently while on Fontier Trail I looked at those flags. I saw that the gas flags led directly to the gas meter behind the Kettle Corn stand. My guess is these flags are no big deal.
^ - but wouldn't it be expected that the gas line goes to a gas meter? I'd be more worried if the gas line was marked as going to the drinking fountain.
If they are planning to dig, the flags are so that they DON'T break a line while digging. So the fact that a gas line goes to a gas meter doesn't tell us anything one way or the other.

^^It does tell you something. It tells you they plan to excavate somewhere in that area. Why they want to excavate is what isn't known.

Or when. They could have the markings there so they can plan a construction project 2-3 years from now.

My point that the gas line is flagged to the meter was to convey that I don't think this is anything exciting. It wasn't meant to be a revelation. Of course it runs there and maybe beyond. If the flags went on for a great distance maybe there would be more to get excited about. instead they only go a short distance.
They only go a short distance in that direction.
Is it worth noting that these flags (as well as those nearby under SRF) are found near a point on the Trail that is nearest the water that separates Millie Island from the "mainland"?
Or perhaps its something totally unexpected and less exciting (for some). You know, for example, a bridge.
^^^^ Thanks for stretching out my browser so I could skip all these other posts and just get the answer from a credible source. I mean why discuss possibilities when someone is a human time machine. :)
^ Speaking of bridges, I've always thought it would be great to have some sort of path from the Millennium side of the park to the Gemini side, maybe from somewhere near that rocky cave thing on Frontier Trail over to somewhere near the Paddlewheel entrance. Don't get me wrong, I love walking around the "teardrop" over and over, it would just be nice to be able to take a shortcut every now and then.

^ - from what information I've gleaned, I doubt this will stretch all the way across. If it does, I doubt it will be open during the regular season, and only after dark during the fall.

Hasn't it been pretty well known that there was supposed to be something big for halloweekends this year? And that Millennium Island was to be involved somehow?

Pretty much. This has been concealed about as well as the new coaster at KI has been. They just couldn't find a flower pot big enough to block the whole island.
