Fishing at CP or in the area??

my husband and i want to head out to CP for a Halloweekend and to relieve the CP withdrawl we are both feeling.

BUT

he has said we can go ONLY if we make time for some fishing while we are there.

so i guess my question is this...can we fish in/around the Marina or do we have to travel elsewhere to do so?? i'm one of those people who feel that once i've gotten onto the CP penninsula, there should be NO reason to leave, ya know??

thanks for any answers you guys can give!!

Hello servo,

As far as fishing at CP goes, you can fish from the pier at Lighthouse Point, I saw a gentleman walk from there with a stringer full of small mouth bass in July this year. I think that walking on the breakwall extending into Lake Erie is off limits and I don't know about the marina or anywhere else along the NW shoreline where it is pretty much all stone rip rap. The rest of the peninsula on the east side is pretty much a sand beach. I don't fish Lake Erie much anymore but I know a lot of people that do. I posed the same question to some avid LE fisherman and was told that you might catch perch in October off the CP peninsula, even at the pier. We are camping again in October for a coaster fix as well and I think I will be fishing the pier on that Saturday morning.

Check the Ohio DNR Wildlife web site at http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife/, or better yet, call the Sandusky Fisheries Unit which can be found at http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife/Contact/default.htm and ask them about your best bets about fishing at CP and the area in general. Good luck and have fun!!

thanks for the info!!

are you talking about the pier at LP where the lighthouse is? or is there another one i dont know about??

thanks again! i think this just might convince hubby to go. we havent been to CP since 2003 and i am REALLY missing it!!

Yes, that is the pier at LP that CP-DAD is talking about. The pier by the lighthouse and pool.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

You can also try your luck in Huron on the Huron pier.
