I am from the Los Angeles area and flying into Cleveland on the early morning (6am) of October 3rd and have some questions and hope you can help.
This will be my first visit to OH and the original plan was to stay in Cedar Point for two days, but then I started to think about visiting Kings Island on Saturday then CP on Sunday.
Is this a good idea?
What exactly is Hallow Weekends?
Thank you for your help.
I would not advise both parks in that short time. The parks are located about 3-hours apart. Both parks are open until midnight on Saturday and Cedar Point is open until 8 on Sunday. Most haunts and scare zones are not open on Sunday. The crowds will be terrible at both parks. The staffing is short-handed in October so lines (and wait times) will be a little longer than usual. I would choose Cedar Point for both days. You can buy a two-day ticket.
Thank you for the replies.
I understand the crowds and will get that Express Pass option. I current have a Knotts season pass so I will probably upgrade my pass for when I go.
In Los Angeles the Halloween events are a special ticket and is only open at night Is this the same in Ohio? It sounds like they take place all day long and is part of the admission.
Call me crazy, but my plan was... We arrive at the Cleveland Airport at 7am. We rent a car and drive to Kings Island for the 11am opening. Experience the rides in KI and then head out by 5pm and drive back to CP. Then if I am up for it, head to CP for the last few hours.
Keep in mind that I could care less about the Halloween stuff and just want to experience the rides that I heard so much about for all these years.

Think about what you are saying here and the effect it will have on your body.
Your flight probably leaves LAX about 10:30 PM (PDT) on Friday night to get into CLE at 6 AM (EDT). You then drive over 3 hours to Mason and play there for 6 hours (during the busiest portion of the day) and then drive 3.5 hours, much of which is not on a freeway, to your hotel in Sandusky.
Even if you can sleep on the flight, it won't be long enough and you will have jet-lag. That whole scenario just sounds downright dangerous if you ask me. And there's no reason to spend more time on Saturday in a car than in a park.

I've never been to either park on Halloweekends, so others will be more helpful.
Halloweekends means the parks will be decorated for Halloween and will have "haunts" or "scare zones" Specifically at CP: https://www.cedarpoint.com/halloweekends/haunt
At KI: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/assets/uploads/2014FrightGuide.pdf
Assuming decent weather, be prepared for LUDICROUS attendance (i.e. more than RIDICULOUS) on Saturday at either park . But, as I said, I've never been to Ohio in Oct, so others will have better info.
