Wow. What an amazing park.
We stayed at a Lighthouse Point cottage right on the lake and it was awesome. Arrived around midnight on Wednesday and the place was a ghost town. Somewhat eerie, but nothing a few beers with friends didn't cure.
Woke up Thursday and the weather report looked terrible, calling for showers all day. I think we ended up getting about 1 minute of light rain all day. AWESOME! Barely any crowds until later in the afternoon. Friday had big crowds (45 mins for Millenium, 1 hour for Top Thrill) and was warm and sunny.
We rode everything except MaXair, which was closed. Over 1.5 days (only Friday morning), 3 rides on Millenium, Top Thrill and Maverick, doing the front row on all three. Those three rides are amazing. Even better than I expected. Maverick, especially, because I wasn't expecting it to be so great. That is the best coaster I've ever been on. We lucked out the first time on Top Thrill and just happened to be there when they started doing test runs. We got in the line outside the gate and 8 minutes later we were sitting in the front row!
Seriously, everything about the park was just about perfect. Coming from Orlando, and having worked at parks here, I know a bit about how these things run and Cedar Point does a great job. There are a few things I noticed they did even better than the big guys down here. Great service from the hotels, to the Perkins breakfast to the park itself. Fantastic.
Oh, and for our 45 minute Millenium wait on Friday, we had the Crazy Cedar Point line guy right behind us. Found several more videos of him on Youtube. What's the deal with this guy? He and my group ended up singing a rousing rendition of Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone", though. Good times.
Glad you had a good time. For future refrence, here is the Forum for Trip Reports.
