Hi Everyone,
I just came across this site and wanted to join to get some feedback from everyone. As a roller coaster fanatic, I have been drooling to go to Cedar Point for years and I am finally going this Saturday. All of you seem very knowledgeable about the park and rides and I was hoping I could get any tips that you may have to offer for my first trip! We are flying in from Florida. I've become very familar with all of the roller coasters from the Cedar Point website. Admittantly, I'm a little nervous about the Top Thrill Dragster- more so about going up than going down. Can anyone give me details about how the ride feels when you're on it? It looks like it's pretty slow when it crests over the top and also when it begins to spiral down. What's it like?! I'm SOOO excited! Thanks for the feedback!
PS- We're only going to be in the park for one day. Is that enough time? Are the lines really long on a Saturday or are there enough rollercoasters to spread everyone out?
Thanks again,
Alana
TTD looks scary but its not at all. The launch is really fast but its over before you know it. The top does go very slow and if your lucky you will roll backwards. Small chance of that happening but it did happen to me. The spiral is fun. It a great ride. I was more nervous my first time on MF then TTD.
Try to get on TTD and MF in the morning b/c the lines will get so long in the evening. *** Edited 5/17/2007 12:04:11 AM UTC by Warriors20***
Ride On
Where in Florida are you coming from?
2005/2006: Cedar Point - Millennium Force
2007/2008/2009: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland Speedway
2008: Hard Rock Park - Maximum RPM! Opening Supervisor
2008/2009: Universal Orlando - Men in Black: Alien Attack Team Leader, Guest Services Coordinator
Thank you so much for the feedback! I spend hours (as I am now) looking at all of the pictures of the rides (mostly Millenium Force and Top Thrill.) I was disappointed to hear that Maverick won't be opening until June- I just learned today. But I'm really looking forward to Millenium Force for sure! I think I might have to get a couple of rides under my belt before I go on TTD! :) I don't want to have a heart attack on the first ride! Ha Ha! Looking at these people's faces after the ride freaks me out. I read about it going backwards on occasion... I also read about it getting stuck at the top for 15 minutes in 2005!
I'm coming from Jacksonville Fl- and we'll just be in the park for one day, unfortunately. I hope we can get on everything!
Millenium Force is an amazing ride that you won't soon forget. TTD is really great too, it's such a rush, its' just over so fast. The worst part is the anticiaption as you wait to be launched but before you know you are at the top of the hlil with a view that is absolutely amazing. It really is a rush. You also need to make sure you hit Skyhawk, though it's not a coaster, to me, it thrills just like one. There's lots of airtime and the rush of looking face down at the ground and then rushing the other way and ending up feeling like you're going to flip over is amazing. The short/usually quick-moving lines mean you can get more than one ride in or check out other rides.
Thank you, thank you! Everyone here is awesome for giving me feedback so quickly. On the list is now TTD, MF, and Skyhawk. We're supposed to head to TTD and MF as early as possible because the lines get long. Anything else?
I've never been to Ohio. Is there anything around Cedar Point that we should try to do while there?
Thanks!
Alana
Welcome to the site and Im sure you will love Cedar Point. About the rides there all really great so you can't go wrong. *** Edited 5/17/2007 1:24:12 AM UTC by cmkbabie***

I am sure you are going to love Cedar Point. You asked if 1 day is enough. My opinion is no. there is so much to do at CP that you would probably need 2 days for everything, but since you only have 1 day I can give you my opinion on what coasters are the best. The coasters you will definitely want to ride are: Millenium, Magnum, Top Thrill, Raptor, Wicked Twister, Gemini, and Mantis. The remaining coasters: blue steak, iron dragon, mine ride, mean streak, and disaster transport, I would ride only if you had extra time. Be prepared to wait the longest for Top Thrill, Millenium and Raptor. Saturdays are almost always the busiest day of the week, but as long as you get there at open and don't waste a lot of time eating, playing games, etc.. you should be able to hit lots of coasters. Hope you enjoy your first visit to the park!!!
Like the website suggests, the wait times do slightly decrease during the typical lunchtime and dinner time hours, so you can plan to ride during those times and eat later.
As far as Raptor, my personal opinion is that like any other coaster, the extra few minutes to wait for the front seat is worth it. To me, it's the only way to ride that one.

I'll second that, and like you said, that's the only way to ride Raptor. Did my first ride this season in Raptor yesterday in the front row. :)

Yeah, I think the anticipation is the worst. Once you launch it's over before you know it. :)

^^ Yup and then you are in the sky and feel like your flying, the thing i like best about TTD though is that they have lapbars and not harnesses so you get more of an expierience.

Get yourself on SkyHawk...and here's how. When the park opens at 10, go directly to it. Until 10:45 or so, the line for SkyHawk will be about 2-5 minutes long. In the middle of the day it can get up to 45 minutes, and it's hard to say it's worth the time (since youre only there one day). That time would be better invested in the line for MF or TTD.
Have fun!
It's a;ways nice to hear first-timers experiences.
