Heading to CP this summer for the first time. We're going to be there on a weekday in June - how long can we expect to wait in line on the more popular rides? Is is going to be worth our while if we just do one day at the park, or do we really need to do two or more days to get the full experience? Also, any resorts/hotels close by that you'd especially recommend? Thanks in advance. Fantastic website - lots of great park info.
First question: http://www.pointbuzz.com/faq3.htm
Next question: If you have the time and money, take two days, especially if you won't be back for a while.
Next next question: Check out Breakers Express.
Stay the second day, you will need it. I second breakers express, your not going to find anything better at that price. They have some good packages as well.
If you can, stay on Point. Lighthouse Point is the best, with Hotel Breakers bringing up a close second, IMO.

I second MrScott. I've not yet stayed at LHP, but I have stayed at Breakers. There is nothing like not having to get in a car (even just to go to BE) after a long day wandering around the point. Being able to just walk back to your room is worth it. Also, BE doesn't pick up your parking (at least last time I checked they didn't) so that's another 18 bucks you'll be out.
Like the others said, if you can, stay for two or maybe even 3 days. Its nice to not worry about "doing it all" in just one day. Having a few to spread it out can make the trip much more enjoyable.

I agree that 2 days is a minimum to enjoy all Cedar Point's main attractions. But if you are a real fanatic, hope to go in all rides, to enjoy one or two shows (some are very interesting) and do not be rushed, it is ever a good idea to plan a 3- or 4-days getaway, especially if you do not plan a return to Cedar Point before a long time.
Do not be afraid for the affluence issue.
For the hotel, some places outside CP's resort are closed and cheaper. DO NOT go to Howard Johnson (cheapest but rather disgusting). I recommend Ramada Inn (on Road 250).
I would say a 2 night stay, giving you 3 days to enjoy the park and Soak City would be good. It is nice to have a day that is not a travel day.
The best place to stay is right on the Point, at one of the hotels or Lighthouse Point. Breakers Express is very nice, but nothing is as nice as being right on the peninsula. Breakers Express is the closet off-point hotel however, and the price is good. Also, don't forget about Castaway Bay, which is right at the entrance to the CP Causeway.
Outside of the Cedar Point properties, things can vary greatly in quality. The Comfort Inn, by Rt. 2 and Rt. 250 is nice. I've heard the the Holiday Inn on Rt. 250 is decent, and they have a Holidome. Also, Great Wolf Lodge is a beautiful hotel, and is also located on Rt. 250. In case you don't know, Rt 250 is the main route into Cedar Point from either the Ohio Turnpike or the Rt 2 freeway.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Oh, I thought he wanted to stay at BE. On point is the best for sure depending on how picky you are about your room.
BE beats anything I have experienced so far in the area.
If you have a group of people going, I highly reccomend Lighthouse Point. I organized a trip with a group of friends last year as a college graduation trip, and we had a BLAST!!! Divided among a group of people, it's really affordable too, plus you have a grill, picnic table etc, so you can save money on park food!

Great info - thanks for all of the responses! I think we're leaning towards one of the resorts on the point. Are Hotel Breakers, Lighthouse and Sandcastle resorts all within walking distance of the park and the beach?
