Hi guys,
I live in Denmark and will be going (for the first time) to CP from June 7th to June 16th. To build up the right vibe, I would like to ride the coasters / thrill rides in an order that starts with the tiny ones first and the big ones last - after this order is completed I will ride whatever I feel like :)
Anyone have a suggestion of the best way (order) to ride the rides in? Starting with 1, 2, 3,.... and so on (also considering the geographics of the park).
Sorry if any grammar / spelling errors.
Thanks, Kenneth.
Hi Kenneth,
If you are a real roller coasters fanatic, you are going to be in a paradise at Cedar Point!
When you enter in the parc through the main gate, begin with Demon Drop on your right: you have to do this older ride before Power Tower, a newer free fall ride and one of the best CP's thrill ride (maXair will be another, for sure).
On the roller coasters side, start with Blue Streak, the oldest CP's coaster which is a good one. Raptor, located near the main entrance too, is a good modern roller coaster. Then, walk on the north side of the park, where you can ride softer coaster (Disaster Transport) and rides (Troika, Ocean Motion). On the beach, Wicked Twister, an air-lauched roller coaster, will be a great prelude to Top Thrill Dragster.
Walking again, you can ride WildCat, Iron Dragon, Mantis and Corkscrew, which are also good coasters. Magnum would be a good introduction to the best roller coasters on Earth. In the Frontier Town area, you are going to have pleasure to ride Cedar Creek Mine Ride (a family ride) and Mean Streak.
Millennium Force should be the paramount of your day. Keep time enough to ride it many times, but if you are at CP for many days, this will not be a problem.
Be prepared to walk, and walk, and walk... Cedar Point is a large park and some transport rides (especially CP & LE Railroad) will be appreciated.
DemonUp
Demon,
Wicked Twister is not air-launched, it is a LIM (magnetic) launched coaster.

Oh! There are too many roller coasters at Cedar Point! I forgot Gemini!
Located between Magnum and Frontier Town area, this double-track roller coaster is really interesting. It is not very high neither fast, but a lot of fun when two trains start at the same time.
Hi Kenneth,
Here is the order that I consider from mild to wild for the adult size roller coasters:
These are not arranged in any geographical order, and of course, other people's opinions will vary.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Gotta agree with Pete on this one.
Pete, can you give him a list like that one for the flats? Or, anyone?
High Thrill Flats..........
1.Chaos
2.Wave Swinger
3.Demon Drop
4.Witches Wheel
5.maXair
6.Power Tower
*Those are pretty much the most thrilling of the flat rides all the other ones are not bad. Im sorry if I forgot any.
Thanks guys, that will help me in planning my first day (if I can make them all in one day).
Its my first ever visit to the states - and I still can´t believe I will be at Cedar Point in less than 5 weeks - and for eight days straight.... It´s been my life dream for a long time :)
Going at the Point for a 8-day stay will give you enough time to fully enjoy all CP's rides, shows and other pleasures (including Soak City if you like waterpark), without being rushed.
About eating, go to Famous Dave, one of the best place to enjoy a lunch. Midway Market will help you to eat other things than fast food too. And it would be a good idea to eat outside of the park, where the food is less expensive.

Those are about as flat as you can get.....
You will be there 8 days! Lucky. Anyway just walk in the park and go where you coaster senses drive you. If you see TTD and want to go on it go for it. Who cares if you skip Raptor you will get there in the end.

101 on Magnum and counting...
When I took my son for his first coaster rides, I took him in this order:
Iron Dragon
Wildcat (small but fast with quick drops and helixes)
Disaster Transport (at the time the special effects worked)
Blue Streak (first experience of airtime)
Corkscrew (first inversion)
Gemini (more airtime than Blue Streak)
Mean Streak (a rough ride)
Magnum (the ultimate fast, air time machine at the time)
Those allowed us to navigate without constantly going from one end of the park to another several times. Iron Dragon is across from Wildcat, walking back toward the entrance and to the left takes you to Disaster Transport, then back towards Raptor toward Blue Streak. Corkscrew is on the way to Gemini. Mean Streak (and Cedar Creek Mine Ride) are in Frontier Town. Magnum is between Corkscrew and Gemini.
Of course, Raptor, Mantis, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister and Dragster were not options back then (1991), and he was so excited to begin with we didn't think to walk back to Frontier Town for Cedar Creek Mine Ride first, probably the tamest of the adult coasters. You should also ride Woodstock Express, although not an "adult" coaster, it's a fun little family coaster and you don't need a child to ride with you.
I assume you have already looked at the map of Cedar Point available on their website. By using the map, you can get a feel from the suggestions above how you wish to "do the park". You can also check out the "Midways" section on this site to get a feel for what is in each section of te park.
As for flats, don't forget to ride Cedar Downs! It's much more fun than it appears, and I believe, only one of two still in existence.
You are also going at a very good time of the year. Schools in the area are not quite out of session, although you are likely to see a lot of school groups there for their end of the school year trips.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
I agree with CP4eva'04. If you are going for eight days, just go where your instincts lead you.
Make sure you check out pointbuzz.com regularly. Most of the people who post on this site are CP regulars and just by reading their posts you will learn alot.
I live 1400 miles away from CP and have only been there once, but I had such a great time that this August I'm going back and taking my whole family.

WARNING! NOVEL AHEAD!
Well I'm going to go in depth on this one. You're going for 8 days? That's good, I could go there all season. Use this as a guide. I will be specific, but remember I'm not you and you should be yourself. Anyway...
Before you go: Get to know what Cedar Point has to offfer. As oldCper said, download the map (link #1 at bottom). Browse these forums, ESPECIALLY Trip Reports. Know about the "infrastructure" of the park. (FreeWay, food, etc.) Also, get a season pass. I mean, 8 days costs a lot, a season pass is worth it, even though you aren't returning. If you aren't staying at a Cedar Point Resort, and you've got the money, add on Joe Cool for early entrance. Also, add the parking pass too, you don't want to get robbed on parking (if you aren't staying at Lighthouse Point, Camper Village, Sandcastle, or Breakers, you'll want the parking pass).
1st day: This is your day to finally be acquainted with Cedar Point. I suggest that you not worry about when you arrive today. Once you get into the park, just walk. Take in the sights, smells, and sounds. Take a right turn and go to Space Spiral. (see map) Take a ride on it, so you can overlook all of what you will be doing the next 8 days. Then go back out and get on Sky Ride. Again, overlook the place.
By now, you're probably itching to ride something, looking at it all. Don't worry, it's COMING. You want to let that build up. Continue walking. Remember, take it all in. Walk by Top Thrill Dragster. TTD and Magnum are very beautiful casters. Now, once you reach Gemini, it's time to start riding. Around the Gemini you've got an array of "flat rides" or "spinning rides". Ride them. It's a good way to start off your Cedar Point Adventure.
Now continue around to Frontiertown. On your way, you should pass Woodstock Express. Ride it. This is your first Cedar point coaster. Don't underestimate it. It may not go 200 kph (yay metrics!), but it's fun. Somewhere in Frontiertown is Wave Swinger, I suggest that one too. Continue around and Ride Cedar Creek Mine Ride, it's a CLASSIC.
Now I've gone pretty far in depth, but you don't have to follow it word for word. Go back to the CP/LE Railroad station. Ride the train. It's quite scenic, not to mention it will take you to another part of the park, and you might be tired of walking. As the day continues, ride small things, like the flat rides, and coasters like Iron Dragon, WildCat, Corkscrew, and YOU MUST ride Blue Streak. Explore, and enjoy. Also, why not see a show or two? Relax on the beach for a while.
As day turns to night, Cedar Point transforms. It's beautiful at night. The lights will go on and the park becomes a rainbow. You can then leave for the day. Those big coasters will have stuck out, but that's what you're looking forward to.
Day 2: It's day 2! Time to finally hop on some of those big rides! We're gonna start in the back again, so get there bright and early! Start out on Mantis, the stand-up. Ride it again if you like, lines get long by the middle of the day, morning is a good time, while everybody gets on those giants. Now go back to Frontiertown, and Ride Mean Streak. Mean Streak is so underrated. Don't let the roughness get in the way. Also, ride Mine Ride again. Next, go around and get to Gemini. Gemini is a great gide. Ride both sides. It's fun, thrilling, it's just great. Skip over Magnum, that comes later.
If you liked Corkscrew yesterday, take another ride. Now move to the front of the park. Do everything. Start out on the beach side, and ride Ocean Motion, Giant Wheel, Troika, Chaos, and Disaster Transport (big ugly building) first. Then take a ride on Wicked Twister. This coaster has been overlooked in previous years, but we can't be sure with the new maXair. Speaking of maXair, ride that.
Cross over to the Blue Streak side. Ride Blue streak again along with Raptor. Raptor is the best inverted ride I've been on. Also, get on Demon Drop. There's also Cedar Downs. Don't overlook it. For the rest of your day, ride everything that you've already done. Tomorrow is the day for the GIANTS.
Day 3: Like I said, today you get to ride the GIANTS, Millenium, Magnum, and Dragster! Remember that early entrance I was talking about before? If you have that privelige, use it. Go around to Millennium Force. This is obviously my favorite coaster. If you used the early entrance, you would get on at 9:30. Ride it a few times. Around 10 (when the public is let in) wait for the front seat. This will be your last chance for a short line, so that's a good time to wait for the front. You will not regret it!
Next, hop onboard the CP/LE railraod and this time you'll get a scenic view of Lake Erie. You'll be at Mean Streak. Ride it if you want. Move around to Magnum XL-200. I suggest that you get in line before 11, but you can ride the other stuff along the way if you have time. Magnum is yet another classic. Ride it at least twice.
Now you know what's left. The world's second tallest and fastest coaster, the world's first stratacoaster, TOP! THRILL! DRAGSTER! (You'll understand that when you get to the park) Don't mind the line. You've got to ride it. My suggestion is that you ride it once you're done with Magnum. Also, get back in line just before 2. Why? Because everybody's lining up to get a FreeWay pass, almost nobody's getting in line! You should ride in the front the SECOND time, so that it turns what you thought was a great ride into an AWESOME ride.
For the rest of the day, you're free to do as you please, now that you've conquered all the coasters, starting small and getting big. The park's got more to offer. At the very end of the night, get in line for Millennium Force again. This will allow you to watch the (rather unentertaining) laser show while you wait for the best coaster.
Day 4: If you've got money to spend, take a break from the park and enjoy Cedar Point's extra charge attractions, Soak City and Challenge Park. If nothing else, ride RipCord, probably the most thrilling ride at Cedar Point. It will cost you $30 on your own. But, If you can coax others into riding with you (you'll get pretty close together though) the cost will go down (if you split the cost). Soak City has some good rides, just don't forget the sunscreen!
Days 5-7: Do what you feel like.
Day 8: End with a bang. Power ride. Try to do the whole park.
Now again, don't follow this like the bible. Just use it as a guide. You wanted help geographically and building up, and I gave you that (and A LOT more). Just have fun.

At the turn of the Millennium, there were signs. Was the something out there?... A mysterious force at work? Beyond words. Beyond comprehension. Beyond, beyond beyond… A natural force simply known as, Millennium Force. The future is riding on it.…
it doesnt realy matter wut order you do it in just make sure that you hit top thrill dragster 1rst every day. what i would recomend is that you go to cedar points webside and make a check list of all the coaster and check them all off as you go on them some of the rides i wouldnt recomend waiting more than 10 minutes in line for are cedar creek mine ride and cork screw
also if your going for a whole week it would be cheaper if you buy a season pass because its only $100 and i think the ticket price at the gate is something like $50
MForce310 has a LOT of time.

I would say, like the others sad. Start from the smaller ones (in height) then work your way up to the taller ones. Hope you enjoy your CP trip! :)
