First Time Visitor Tips

I Hope that this question has not been asked a million times...but in case it has. I apologize.

We are a family of four going to Cedar Point this coming weekend. We have gone on to the Cedar Point Website, and found some informative tips and suggestions on how to make the most of our Cedar Point Trip. Do you, as Multiple Visitors have any other tips for us that will be visiting for the first time?

We are a party that includes my wife, a 14 year old son, and a 11 year old daughter.

Thank you in advance.

Matthew

Are you coaster riders? Are you staying at a Cedar Point hotel (Hotel Breakers, Breaker Express, Sandcastle, Castaway Bay)? If so, take advantage of the early access to the park and ride Maverick and Millennium Force first, both of which accumulate some of the longest waits during the day. It's also good to ride Top Thrill Dragster early in the day, though it doesn't open until it's open to the general public.

Start in the back of the park, and work your way forward. Enter the park through the Soak City/Magnum/resort gate if you can.

For meals, I recommend Midway Market, Chick-Fil-A, and TGI Fridays (which is just outside the park in Hotel Breakers).

Um. That's all I got. :) But I'm sure a lot of others will have even better suggestions.

Have a good time. I'll be there on Sunday, myself. *** Edited 8/13/2007 1:27:17 AM UTC by Jamie the Crazy***

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

Lockers cost $5, and have a $10 deposit. There is $1 locker rentals by Millennium Force, Soak City, and a few other spots as well. Every time you use it, it costs $1, and no deposit. Avoid using a locker if you can. Most every ride had a loose article bin except Millennium Force. My digital camera survived every rollercoaster in my cargo pocket.

You won't need anything in the park besides towels to dry off if you choose to get wet, money, swim suit if your going swimming, water, and comfortable shoes. Travel light....you really don't need much. If you can carry your entire string pack backpack that would be for the better.

Parking is $10 per day. You may leave the park once in your vehicle and re-enter that day.

If you stay on point that is not a problem.

Average meal costs in the park are about $12-13 for "park food", and the TGI Fridays and Famous Daves cost about 30% more then an average TGI or Famous Daves. For example, their smaller portions menu is $6.99 to 8.99 usually, and at CP it is $12.99 and higher I believe. Water is $3 per bottle, and you can bring in your own water if you like as well to save some money.

Use the sky ride to save on walking. You can for instance ride from raptor to midway through the park about, and you get there in about the same time as walking with a nice view.

Your top three waits will be like said. Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, and Millennium Force.

Raptor can also get pretty busy sometimes.

MaxAir, Power Tower, and Wicked Twister are pretty fast lines.

If you go to tgifridays.com and sign up for the e-club they mail you a free appetizer coupon (well valued up to $8) in your e-mail, and after 3pm at TGI Fridays they have half off appetizers and some other deals.
I recall the Cheesy Cheeseburger I think it was with fries was $9.59 at T.G.I Fridays, and the Cajun Shrimp / Chicken pasta smaller portion was $12.99. If your average meal for "park food" which is just so-so pizza / burgers / hot dogs / chicken fingers / etc, you might rationalize spending a little more for a much better meal.

Avoid Midway Market like the plague. Hit up Macaroni's or Friday's if you want a good sit down. JR's isn't too bad either.

MM is great - especially for lunch.

Over Priced, Under Staffed and Low Quality.

I tried it once, it sucked.

I tried it again, it still sucked.

They've gotten almost 50 bucks from me, that location won't be getting any more from me.

Though Raptor gets long lines sometimes, it usually moves them pretty fast. Magnum, Gemini (when running both sides), and Iron Dragon have fast-moving lines as well.

I didn't think MM was that bad... except everything tasted the same the last time I was there. The salad tasted like the pasta which tasted like the grapes... you get my point. But I love their desserts!

As said somewhere above, the less you carry around with you, the better off you'll be. It's really a pain to have to drop tons of things in a bin every time you get on a ride.

Most of the lines will be long. Just wait in the lines dont just keep walking around looking for a shorter one just get in line. Other then that if I were you I would exit the park for lunch/Dinner.

Eat lunch at famous daves or tgif at breakers and you can use your parking pass to get the $10 taken off of your food bill.

the **free** shuttle around the park can save you lots of walking plus the ride around perimeter road is a great way to see alot of the sights around the park, all whilke sitting in the a/c. you can get picked up at the soak city parking lot, the marina entrance, and any of the hotles. There may be afew more stops but thats all I can think of right now.

I never knew about the parking pass $10 off thing......

Its printed right on it, but most people immediately throw it to the front of the dash and forget about it.

.......not bad. I have one in my car still........ I shall look.

Good to know about the parking pass. I didn't know about it either.

To answer your question...We do enjoy roller coasters. We live close to Cedar Points Sister Park: Michigan Adventures. We have gone there for several summers. We are just wanting to go to Michigan Adventure's Bigger Brother park so to speak. We are not staying in the park itself. Just a Hotel off 250.

My Wife wants to know also...Can we purchase 2008 Season Passes Right at the park itself? Or Should we go online and purchase them there?

Thank you all for your Insight!

2008 season passes are not available yet. Also, at this point, you would not get 2008 passes, but vouchers to be redeemed next spring for season passes.

2008 Season Passes aren't on sale yet, but you will be able to purchase them online once they go on sale (at the end of the season). If you purchase passes from Cedar Point, you'll have to get the processed at Cedar Point.

I have a parking pass right here and it does not say anything on it about food. Its just the $10 daily admission.
