First time heading to the Point

I live in Minnesota so I have about a 10 hour drive in front of me. Valley Fair (in the Twin Cities) was running a special on season passes for $70 and they assured me they also work at Cedar Point, so I thought that was a heck of a deal, especially since we generally go to Valley Fair once or twice a year and we've been meaning to find the time (and excuse) to check out cedar point.

I will get there Saturday evening. My question is, how packed will the park be then. Since I have the season pass, I thought we could check the park out on Saturday night already. If we don't show up till 7:00 or so, will we really have time to do any rides anyway?

We'll also have all day Sunday and Monday, so I"m not worried about running out of time. Just excited to get started :).

I assume Monday will be the least crowded of the three days.

Also, I found a really good deal on a new hotel in Norwalk, which is about 12 miles south of cedar point. Is Norwalk a nice town? I'm kind of a small town kind of guy :).

We thought about staying on site, but basically it was pay $200 a night or $45. We chose $45. Won't be in the room that much anyways and 12 miles isn't a bad drive.

As for park crowds, check this out. It will be well worth heading in for the Saturday evening. There will be plenty you can do, especially if you stay until close. Check out a show or just stroll the grounds and get a feel for what you're in for the next two days. If you see a short line, jump in it.

As for Norwalk, it's a nice, smaller community. Be aware, though, you're probably looking at a 25 or 30 minute drive to the park, depending on where exactly you're at.

Basically there are 3 hotels in Norwalk, Amerihost, Best Western (I think), and Econo Lodge. Both are on the north end of town and as Walt said 25-30 minutes to CP. The Amerihost and Best Western are at most 3-4 years old, with fairly nice rooms, both have an indoor pool I think. The Econo Lodge has been there a long time. If you come to norwalk watch out for the slow drivers....there everywhere.

Beware of the Econo Lodge!! We stayed there last year with some friends. Not exactly what you'd call a nice hotel.
Econo Lodge...

Just think about the title. Something economic, meaning cheap.

Cheap often equals crappy.

Well Hooper, step on that gas pedal a lil harder and quit holding these people up!

As far as hotels go, im ok with about any ive stayed in in that area, beats sleeping in the car.

One spur of the moment trip to Kennywood taught me not to worry about hotels in the sandusky area, around Kennywood the only hotels we seemed to find featured hourly rates, since it was a male friend, id prefer the car to that, but in and around sandusky there is a good chance you can find any hotel and be resonably safe.

(I havent tried Duisk to Dawn yet, as it seems to be ne that stands out on CP Place as being a tad nasty.)

Ah, that was a rip on the slow drivers in and all around norwalk. As for my driving it is more like get the Fu$% out of my way.
