First ride of the season?

I've never really given much thought to what to ride first. My first ride of 2016 was Fury 325. I want to say Valravn, but I have a feeling it'll have the longest queue in the park so will probably head to TTD or MF or my beloved Skyhawk.

I agree with you, Shane, except that the first view that excites me is seeing the park (on a clear day) across the bay from the Edison Bridge on RT. 2.

Where's this? We come inform the east (from Rochester, NY) on Rt 2 westbound to Rye Beach Rd. I've never seen the park until we get to Cleveland Rd, it can be seen for a second where the old airport was.

edit: I just checked out a map on Google. Are you coming in from the west? I can see where you would cross the bay and have a pretty sweet view...

Sorry, hit the wrong button. We come from the west. The park is somewhat of a distance away, but you get a good sense of how tall Millie and Dragster really are (among others). Actually, you see it better heading west as there is now a fairly high concrete divider between the East and west-bound lanes.

Interesting. Do you get off Rt 2 at Rye Beach Rd? I'm really curious about where you see the park from Rt 2! I'm sure it's in the distance but I love those views!

When I was a kid going to Darien Lake we always thought it was so cool that you could see the Giant Wheel lit up from miles away across the farm fields on Rt 20. I love these long distance views!

ROUNDABOUND.

My first ride in 2015 was Fury 325 opening day, This year first ride was Volcano (had I known Dominator was open for early entry I would have preferred that). My first Ohio coaster this year was Diamondback in Saturday.

I'll probably ride Valravn as my first ride on season pass preview day. That will be it until Ride Warrior Club Valravn ERT.

Skydiver probably sees the park from the Rt. 2 Bay Bridge, it's a pretty cool long distance view, especially at night.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

For me, it will probably be Valravn, right after coming in through the new marina gate.

Yep I just went back and re-read his explanation. He says he comes in from the west, which is opposite of me coming in from the east. I misread it as he comes in heading west, same as me. I see on the map where he's talking about. I'll have to check that out! I don't know that we've ever gone that far west on Rt 2!

Actually, if you know where Bay View is, you can go on old route 2 where it used to cross the bay, stop and get out for some great views of the park.

We'll be there Sunday evening May 15 so hopefully valravn will be a short wait. If not then probably maverick or the train. (Yeah i know those two are basically the same ride)

First ride; Magnum 1994

I didn't know it was called the Bay Bridge, I've only heard of it referred to as the Edison Bridge. Yes, I do come from the west ( Monroe, Mi.). I've always enjoyed the drive, even though I've been doing it since I was a kid (1968). Never gets old!

I've never seen that view at night. I agree- it must be great! We always stay at The Breakers or Sandcastle Suites and come home in the morning.

If Valravn's height requirement really is 52" as it says on the website I have been informed by my freshly 52" daughter that the first ride will be Valravn.

The view from the Edison Bridge at night is speculator.

My wife and I used to tent-camp every once in awhile at East Harbor State Park when visiting Cedar Point, and this was part of the way to and back from the Point.

Captain Bob, you literally took the post out of my hands (that would be the virtual form of taking the words right out of my mouth).

Our oldest daughter just hit 52", and she informed the house of this family decision as well. :)

52" opens a door to a whole new set of adventures.

Hmmm...

Captain Bob and KevinJ. How old are your daughters? Mine is 7 1/2 and last year she was 48 inchs. I haven't had a chance to measure her yet but she is hoping she will hit the 52" mark this year. June will be her first time at CP. Anyways Millenium Force will probably be our first ride.

She will hit it long before mine did. She is. peanut that turned ten in January. It has been killing her not to be able to ride Gatekeeper all this time. Thank heavens that MF is 48" and she LOVES Magnum.

She's 8 1/2 right now, going on 17 (or so it seems some days). I certainly passed on the coaster-loving gene successfully.

Ok, I was just curious. She gets her tallness from my husband, lol.
