First Ride for Construction Folks

I was thinking, at what point do they let the construction folks and/or CP employees take the ride for a spin? I can't imagine watching this thing launch, time after time without any riders. After a few hundred test launches, I would be like, "give me a waiver to sign, I'll be your first human test dummy!" Seriously though, I remember Monty's past posts from his first rides on MF and WT, but I don't recall when they occured in relation to Media Day.

Anxiously waiting for my first ride on TTD, coming May 13th...

Life is too short...go ride a coaster!!

They go after the ergonomics tesing is finished and the the heads of the park have ridden it.

...and the most anticipated event of summer 2003 is...

The Matrix: Reloaded!

yeah theres a rule to roller coaster construstion: Those who build it, first to ride it.
the pyramid of workers and designers is all figured out. It only matters that much us, as I am sure that most of the workers and people in suits and ties are as jumpy as us to strap themselves into this and take it for a spin.

Diary Date: April 10, 2000

Entry: It was great to see Millennium Force run for the first time.

Diary Date: April 28, 2000

Entry: Incredible!!!My first ride on Millennium Force was unbelievable. I deliberately looked only at the track as the train quickly ascended the lift hill. When we reached the top I saw the view for the first time, with all of Sandusky Bay and Lake Erie in the distance. Words cannot describe how amazing it is. But I didn't have long to admire the view. When the train drops, the track actually seems to curve under itself, and you can't see the bottom of the hill. I don't want to spoil the ride for you by saying too much, so I'll just add this: nothing can prepare you for the smooth power and speed of this unprecedented giga-coaster.

Opened to the public: May 13, 2000

I'm not sure when the media day was though. They have 11 days vefore the park opens to the public and is near the last phase of testing. They have been testing it for about 2 months now, it only seems to webcam watchers that they are behind.

As soon as the testing is over, people can start riding it.. They will probably set one day for workers and employees that have been involved in the project. I can't wait to ride it myself, with any luck I'll get a chance before the park opens.

Construction workers are among the first to ride, but usually the heads of the park ride first. Hey, they're footing the bill on the thing.

Actually.. the construction guys are some of the "last" to ride it as far as people involved with the ride go. They are too busy finishing things up.

On MF, the first train after the Intamin engineers, which was the first one with people, was filled with guys from my shop and a few other people.
