We'll be attending our first Hallow Weekend this year. We're looking forward to the decorations and atmosphere in a cool fall season. That being said, we're not fans of being 'scared to death'. We don't plan on paying the additional costs for the walk through attractions. My question is, are there any main walkways or midways we should avoid? I assume there will be walking 'scary people' in most areas, but prefer to avoid a 'walk of doom' on my way to an attraction/ride.
Keep passing the fun along!
Frontier Trail is used as one of the haunted attractions. Picture darkness + fog + mobs of park guests + Screamsters coming up out of nowhere. I have to remind myself to avoid it in the evenings during Halloweekends.
There actually is not an upcharge or extra cost for any of the haunted attractions at Halloweekends - they're all included in the cost of your admission.
The park is family friendly and relatively scare free during the day, and get a bit spookier at night. That being said, there are two types of haunts - the haunted houses, which all have lines and will be very easy for you to avoid if you like. The others are the "scare zones", which are "walk-through" attractions with no lines, heavy fog, and actors jumping out and startling you. All are pretty clearly marked. I don't know that the scare-zones are "scare to death" type of scares, but if you want to avoid them you'll want to stay off the frontier trail after dark.
I haven't been to a HalloWeekends event since 2011; is the Frontier Trail the only scare zone in CP?
You don't have to worry about avoiding any midways until around 8 at night, and thats even only on Fridays and Saturdays. The only place to avoid would be the Frontier Trail. However there are rumors in another thread about all of frontier town being made into a haunt but this is not official and wouldn't become terrifying until 8. Its actually fairly hard to walk into a walkway on accident, they are clearly marked with, signs, fog, and that don't light the midway well. Just any area fog is pouring out of avoid.
i would avoid the frontier trail where scream works is and id also avoid the old gamine midway where carnevil is. everywhere else is pretty much ok to walk the only thing is i don't know if they will bring back the overlord show but if they do you'll have to avoid the luminosity area at 7:40 - 8pm if that show is back cause then you'll get scared.
Maverick - "The West Was Never This Wild"
There's no additional cost for the haunts. They're included in the price of admission, and I'm pretty sure you're a passholder anyway from reading previous Trip Reports.
I wouldn't say any of CP's haunts are "deathly scary" either. A lot of the actors are teenagers and college kids who are basically having fun while in-character. It helped ease the fears of our 11-year-old when we put things in that perspective. That said, I realize different things scare different people - my girlfriend is terrified of clowns and refuses to go through CarnEvil. By no means am I pressuring you to visit any of the haunts, but I highly encourage you to at least check out some of the Scare Zone walk-through. For example, Cut-throat Cove offers some fantastic views of Maverick. Kind of similar to Dinosaurs Alive and its great views of Millenium Force.
Enjoy your first Halloweekends! It's BY FAR my favorite time to visit Cedar Point.

First off please use proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. Makes post easier to read and understand and on top of that is a forum rule. http://pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/15470.aspx
Also, to be more specific, Carnevil is in Camp Snoopy, not the Gemini Midway and they make sure, kids especially, are cleared out before the haunt opens.
Honestly, it's pretty easy to get through the midway haunts without getting to scared. I am not a huge fan of people jumping out at me, so I generally just walk through the haunts with my best "b*tchface' on, and most of the time I get left alone. Walling through behind a group of teens or tweens is also beneficial because they are generally already freaking out and the screamsters go right for them. Good luck!
Thanks everybody! All great tips! We're looking forward to the later season visits. Is it safe to assume crowds are down if the weather isn't co-operating-i.e light rain, cooler temps? Or do the crowds come out like crazy for Halloween? Also, do early entry still apply on Friday evening & Saturday?
Keep passing the fun along!
Fridays at Halloweekends are usually great, regardless of the weather. Light crowds, short lines. Halloweekend Saturdays are some of the busiest days you'll see all year long. One hour early entry for pass holders and hotels guests are in play.

^That could have been why they took the site down early earlier this year. They could have simply forgot to add Fear Faire.
Arms Down, Head Back, and Hold On!...Arms Down!...Arms Down......
Yeah I think the site was still in development, hence the reason they took it down.
